CREATING STUDENT WEB BASED PRODCUTS USING FLCKR TOYS Flickr is a web- based photo sharing web site. It has many devotees, who have developed applications that manipulate photographs – ie “toys”. You can design a magazine cover, become an instant celebrity with your own Andy Warhol photograph, or create your own motivational poster using pictures on hand. To make your own inspirational poster – type the following web address into your browser window. http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ 2. Tab down until you see motivational poster and click on it. 3. Click on Browse and search for a picture on your computer. If you do not have a picture you like, minimize your FD toys window and open a new window with Google on it. 4. Click on images and then type in your search term, i.e. red rose or Pomeranian. 5. Once you have found an image you like, click on it twice, and then right click over the image. Select save as, save to the desktop, and rename your image. 6. Follow all the directions and carefully select your colors not only for your text, but your background as well. 7. Once you are satisfied with your poster, click on the create window at the bottom of the page. 8. Be patient and remember to read all the screen. 9. If you do not quite like it, hit the edit button and play around with the colors and/or text. 10. Try other of the fd toys to use with your class, ie – instead of a biography report have students do a magazine cover on them, etc.
