TIMETABLE FOR 4-HOUR PLAYING SESSIONS: Round 1: Friday 1900 Round 2: Saturday 1000 Round 3: Saturday 1500

DEFAULT & RE-PAIRING TIME: 30 minutes after the above scheduled start times. RATE OF PLAY: 36 moves in 1½ hours. After Black’s 36th move, or immediately after, each clock will be turned back 30 minutes and the game completed in the time remaining, when the provisions of Article 10 of the FIDE Laws of Chess will apply. BYES: Except for Round 5, players may request on the Entry Form one-½ point bye. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:  The organisers reserve the right, without giving a reason, to transfer or refuse an entry.  All fees must be paid before play starts. Late Entries at the venue are at the discretion of the organisers; please phone first to check availability of places.  Entry Fees less an administration charge of £2.00 will be refunded for withdrawal notifications received by 17 November.

 ECF Standard play Grading List (2009) will be used to determine tournament and seeding.  Conversions from other rating systems and estimates for un-graded players will be decided by the organisers.
The current FIDE Laws of Chess will apply. Excepting: A Player not ready to start play within half an hour of the scheduled start of play time for each round will loose.

 Seeded Swiss pairings will be made by Controllers using ECF 
Rules or computer programs based on ECF or comparable rules. Pairings between members of the same family or club etc. will be avoided, if possible, at the sole discretion of the Controller. If a player qualifies for more than one cash prize, he shall be paid the higher amount and the Congress Director will decide how most fairly any balance shall be re-distributed. Except in the Open Tournament, an un-graded player may not win more than the value of the 3rd prize. Cash prizes will be sent to winners by first class post shortly after the end of the Congress. Congress equipment may not be removed from the Playing area or from the Analysis area. Smoking and live Mobile Phones/Pagers are not permitted in the Chess playing and Analysis rooms. Food and drink must not be brought into the Riviera Centre for consumption on the premises. Players agree to abide by the decisions of the Controllers and accept that in all matters relating to the Congress the decisions of the organisers are final.

   

Finding Us Is Easy!
TORQUAY is easy to get to, however you decide to travel: By CAR or COACH, via the M5 and the A380 dual carriageway, Torquay can be reached in little over 3 hours from Birmingham, 3½ hours from London and 4 hours from Manchester. Car parking is available at the Belgrave Hotel. By RAIL, Torquay is linked with all parts of Britain by frequent, high-speed trains. The Riveira Centre is near the centre of the town and well sign-posted. It is just 500 metres from the railway station and is right on the seafront.
