HP Research and Development Labs – 6 minute Flash presentation for HP‟s Information Dynamics Lab. Fast turn-around project also included Flash coding to allow communication between HTML code and the embedded Flash on the page (not shown in sample) John Howell Illustration - Flash web site for a commercial illustrator. Includes custom javascript “pop-up” code. Corrigent Systems – Created a series of Flash animations to illustrate esoteric networking concepts. Embedded the animations in a Powerpoint presentation for the sales staff. (Samples shown in an HTML page.) www.pinebush.com - Designed a template to “lighten up” the look and feel of the Pinebush Technologies website. Includes Javascript buttons and Flash content. (Not yet implemented on main Pinebush site as of 1/5/05.) www.halamafarms.com - Managed the design and development of Flash-based web site. Includes externally loaded content for easy updates. Implemented eCommerce “Shopping Cart” pages. Also invented the technique for creating the “steam animation” viewed at the opening page of the site. Cadence Design Systems – (8 week, on-site project) Created multiple, Macromedia Director-based presentations for Cadence‟s largest annual trade-show event (the Design Automation Conference), as well as a „Flash‟ banner for their corporate web-site promoting the show. Presentations included the integration of „Flash‟ content, software demonstration videos, and external PowerPoint control, all managed with a hidden user-interface. Also coded the Flash Header on their home page starting January '05. China Mobile Soft – 3 day turn-around project involving two Flash banners for the company web site. Mapinfo Corporation – HTML interface design for lead tracking system. (includes JavaScript for buttons and custom “tooltips” code.) www.accellion.com- Informative 2 ½ minute Flash presentation. www.vialto.com- Short-term web design project. 3-day turnaround for whole site. Shearwater, Inc. - Created full-length (5 minute) on-line promotional presentation of Shearwater‟s “HyperXpress” printing and plotting software. Mindspan, Inc., Atlanta, GA 7/04 – Present Contract Kiosk Interface Designer (off-site) Implemented Flash-based Kiosk interface for C++ based foot/walk measuring device. (Device is used by various nationally recognized shoe brands including “The Athlete‟s Foot.”) Flash application files read all content from external data sources, allowing for various user selections, localization of text and audio, as well as branding of all logos, screen fonts, backgrounds and other imagery. Inhance, Inc., San Jose, CA 5/02 – Present Contract Multimedia Designer (on-site) Created several CD-ROM's for the Cisco Sales and Support groups that provide informative video content, menus of links to applicable web pages, embedded PowerPoint content, and PDF formatted literature. Interfaces are created using Macromedia Director, often with an embedded menu created in Flash. Created Director-based tradeshow tool, branded for Genentech that allows the presenter to customize the text displayed for a given presentation, launch PowerPoint presentations and video in a specified order, and control the whole show with familiar PowerPoint mouse and key clicks. Created Cross-Platform, CD-based sales presentation for RAE Systems, Inc. using Macromedia Director. Program functions included updateable content and incorporated several 3rd party Xtras, as well as Flash, PowerPoint, MPEG, PDF, and audio integration. Customizable web-connectivity and feedback functions were also developed. Project completed under very tight deadline. Created training CD for Cisco Systems using Macromedia Director which included programmatic integration of several video formats, and timed voice-over. Presentation also includes simulations of several web-based software applications, and links to pertinent web sites. Responsible for the company's digital portfolio content and interface programming for a CD-ROM mailing in 2002. Also contributed to the companies VIP portfolio presentation by providing code to launch and control other software in the Macromedia MultiUser Server environment.
Hewlett Packard, Inc., Cupertino, CA 3/03 - 8/03 Contract Graphic/Multimedia Designer (on-site) Created Flash based presentations, varying in length from 30 seconds to three minutes, used for purposes including bundled software tutorials (on all new HP and Compaq home computers) and “end-cap” retail displays. These Flash presentations utilize external text files to allow instant localization, text editing, and link customization without requiring edits to the original source material. Sample 1 (HP Image Zone), Sample 2 ("Get Broadband" - Compaq version) Sample 3 ("Get Broadband" - HP version) Developed numerous “skins” for the interface of HP‟s “Organize” software package. Icon design for HP support links found in the “Start Menu” of all new HP Pavilion computers. Created several interactive, animated Flash images for the “About My HP Computer” documentation provided with all new HP and Compaq computers. This allowed users of HP computers to explore the hardware features of their computer purchase through the use of an
interactive chassis diagram. As with all Flash work done for HP, these Flash presentations utilize external text files to allow instant localization, text editing, and link customization. Sample 1, Sample 2, Sample 3 Cadence Design Systems, Inc., San Jose, CA 7/01 - 11/01 Contract Graphics Editor (on-site) Researched, designed, and implemented Cadence‟s PV Technical Publications Intranet site using Macromedia Dreamweaver. Website was then made to be editable within Netscape Composer. Created CD-ROM labels, manual covers, and other print-based media for product rollouts and beta releases. Utilized Adobe Framemaker, Photoshop, Illustrator as well as UNIX-based paint programs such as GIMP. Supported staff training and development of web graphics methodologies and techniques to improve overall efficiency. Logichron, Inc., Santa Clara, CA 1/01 – 7/03 Lead Product Designer Primary designer of GUI and user experience for Desktop/Internet based project management system. Utilized Macromedia Director for prototyping and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for graphics production, logo design, and icon creation. Programmed a data editing and filtering program, as well as a chart and report development system using Macromedia Flash and several third-party plugins.
