Halloween…. It’s All About the Pumpkin!!!!
Here’s a way to have a happy, healthier Halloween this year…. Make it about the
pumpkin, not
the candy! Here are some ideas for classroom parties, or even Halloween celebrations at home…
Games/Activities:
Make Halloween masks: Visit

great mask ideas. (The website also has great ideas for crafts, decorations and Halloween snacks – and some of them are pretty healthy!) For Halloween party and treat ideas which are healthy and earth-friendly, visit
www.greenhalloween.org. Lots of ideas from “outside the candy box”!
Decorate mini pumpkins Have a pumpkin toss Have a hunt for the Great Pumpkin, in the classroom or on the playground. Decorate a pumpkin-themed picture frame and fill with a Polaroid picture of each child. Glue different shaped noodles to paper to make a noodle skeleton. Decorate a trick-or-treat bag
Foods:
Skip the candy altogether, there’s plenty of that with trick-or-treating! Consider a perfectly pumpkin menu for your party, try some of these ideas (e-mail Pumpkin soup Pumpkin pie Pumpkin bread or muffins Pumpkin bagels (available from Noah’s…they are big, so cut in ½) Pumpkin cookies Serve 100 % apple cider or water instead of punch. Try popcorn and apple slices for a party snack…to make it a special treat, dust both with cinnamon sugar.
