On Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 November, a Road Safety Team will be coming into School to work with Year 3 and Year 5. The focus for Year 3 will be to learn how to cross roads safely, particularly between parked cars and larger vehicles. The focus for Year 5 will be speed awareness. This is a great opportunity for our children to learn how to be safer on the roads. If you would like to find more about this course, please see Miss Wild – Class 6 Teacher and Pastoral Leader.

Tell Us 4 Survey – Year 6 From Monday 19th October to Friday 23rd October, Year 6 will be taking part in a „Tell Us 4‟ online survey. This is anonymous survey carried out by many schools in the Local Authority. The will help the Local Authority find our more about children in this age bracket. If you would like to find out more about this survey, please see Miss Wild, Class 6 Teacher and Pastoral Leader.
After a visit from Skip 2B Fit on Tuesday 13th October, our pupils have gone skipping crazy! We are selling skipping ropes with counters via the school office, these are priced at £5 and are available in blue, pink, red and orange. Hurry though as they‟re selling fast!
Every Friday morning from 8.30-9.30am we hold a coffee morning in the School Dining Hall. This is a great opportunity to chill out and meet other parents for a catch up and has so far proved to be very popular. We would however like to see some more faces so please pop in if you have the time. On Monday 19th October, coffee and biscuits will also be served from 2.30pm again in the Dining Hall. We hope you can make it!
From time to time our kitchen staff hold special Themed Days, usually tied in with celebrated festivals and holidays. The menu on these theme days often differ from what is advertised on our 4 weekly rotating menus. Coming up will be a Halloween Themed lunchtime and after half term day where we celebrate the Ka Pomblang Nongkrem Festival. This is a colourful Indian festival to honour the Indian Goddess Ka Blei Synshar in thanks for a good harvest.

Call Parents – Text Messaging Service
On the afternoon of Monday 21st December the whole school will be going to watch Mother Goose at the Oldham Coliseum. We will be leaving School after lunch and returning between 5.30pm – 6pm Details will follow shortly.
Whole School Pantomime
We have recently starting using a new text messaging service, “Call Parent” this means that we can send text messages to you rather than disturbing you with a phonecall. In order for this to work successfully, we need to ensure we have correct contact details for you. Please complete the attached Update of Contact Details form and return it to School via your child as soon as possible. Many Thanks.
A Big Thank You! We would like to extend a big Thank You to everyone who donated Tesco Vouchers for Schools. With the vouchers that we collected we have received a HD Camcorder, digital cameras & a DVD Writer.
Criminal Record Bureau checks (CRB) are carried out on all parent helpers & volunteers who work alongside the children. These checks are carried out by Rochdale MBC and are completed prior to them starting at Bamford Primary School.
Tempest School Photographs
On Monday 19th October 2009 Tempest Photographers will be in School to take pictures of our pupils. You should have received a letter asking for your consent, if you have not received this please contact the School Office. If you have not sent the signed consent form in school please do so by Monday as without it your child/children cannot have their photograph taken, if we do not receive it we will assume that you do not wish for your child/children to be photographed. Please ensure that your children arrive in School on time and in full School uniform on Monday. Many thanks
Bertie Bear has been heard complaining that he‟s not been on holiday for a while! If anyone is going on holiday during half term and would like to take him, he would be very happy indeed! All that we ask is that you take a photograph of yourself with Bertie Bear or a picture of Bertie on location and bring it into School so we can display it on our Bertie‟s Travels Display Board. Please check with Mrs Platt-Harper or Mrs Ridings in the school office so we can get his passport ready and his toothbrush packed.
It is vital that your child arrives to school on time as lateness can be detrimental to their education. The school bell goes at 8.45am and registration closes at 9am if your child arrives within those 15 minutes they will receive a late mark, if they arrive after 9am your child will receive an unauthorised late mark. Please note punctuality is very important to your child‟s education and “traffic” is not a good enough reason.
