GETTING THE MOST OUT OF LEARNING

Designed for anyone who is actively engaged in some kind of learning programme, or who is planning to do so in the future. This course is also suitable for those who support other people who are learning. Its aim is to give participants an overview of how adults learn, help each participant identify and understand their individual learning style, introduce specific tools and techniques that can make learning more effective, identify potential barriers to learning and explore ways of overcoming these and to identify a range of useful resources. GETTING FACTS OUT OF FIGURES

Designed for anyone responsible for Gathering, Summarising, Analysing, Presenting or interpreting data. The seminar is an introduction to simple statistics, so although delegates should be comfortable with arithmetic, including decimals and percentages, no previous knowledge beyond this is required or expected. Delegates will be able to summarise data and make comparisons between different groups of informants or for the same group at different times. They will be able to assess and report the statistical significance (if any) of these differences When looking at figures prepared by others, delegates will understand the distinction between a statistically significant difference and one which may be attributable to sampling error The seminar assumes survey data as the raw material for analysis, but the principles are applicable to data drawn from other sources, including BVPIs, SAT results, etc TUTOR The course will be run by David Lusty from Quantify. Designed for all staff in direct contact with service users in situations with potential for conflict, including those working in: community teams, social services, homecare teams, benefits officers, environmental health, parking control, property services etc Its aim is to provide delegates with the key strategies for assessing risk in dynamic situations and making appropriate choices in order to stay safe. COMMITTEE ADMINISTRATION: CONFIDENT & STRESS FREE MINUTE TAKING
17 & 18 October 2007
Designed for anyone with limited experience of servicing meetings and/or those who take less formal minutes, who need to practise and understand committee administration. The course is relevant for formal committees, informal meetings and for those taking notes from talks or presentations. Its aim is to provide ample opportunity to understand the responsibilities of committee administration and then to practise the essential skills of listening, note taking and writing.
