									Little Egypt Chrysalis

What is “Chrysalis”? In nature, “chrysalis” is the term used to describe the growth stage between caterpillars and butterflies. While on the surface it may look like nothing is happening, the powerful process of maturation is underway. Chrysalis has its roots deeply in its parent movement, the Walk to Emmaus. Like the Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis is a three-day spiritual retreat, called a “Flight”, that provides participants an opportunity to learn about faith, to experience Christian love and support, and to make a new commitment in their faith journey. The content of the three days focuses on God’s grace, how disciples experience Jesus Christ as friend in the Body of Christ, and how one is to live out discipleship in a world needing love. Who should attend Chrysalis? Chrysalis is designed for Christian youth age 15 through 18 who are active in their local church. The participant’s application form must be accompanied by the following:  A sponsor’s form by someone who has been to Chrysalis or Emmaus  A pastor or youth leader’s recommendation  Participant fee of $100 ($25 deposit required with the application. If needed, the balance can be paid at registration during the Flight. Or, please mark that a scholarship is needed. Checks should be made payable to Little Egypt Chrysalis. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Chrysalis Flights have limited number of spots available. Applications are taken year round. Generally, there is a Flight each January, usually during Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, running from Saturday through Monday, and each summer, the date and days depending on the camp availability. What happens at Chrysalis? You spend three days with other young people in worship, prayer, fellowship, recreation, singing, and discussion. You will experience the love of Christ through the prayers and acts of service of a loving community. You will hear talks by youth and adults focused on maturing faith. The talks offer the message of the Gospel and the friendship and example of Jesus Christ. Five talks are given each day and each talk is followed by discussion and reflection on how these messages can be helpful to you in your personal faith. You will explore how the friendship with Jesus can help you live your faith with family, friends, and the community. What happens after Chrysalis? You are invited to become intentional about your faith through local church participation, small group studies, and interpersonal sharing groups. You are invited to build upon your Chrysalis weekend for the rest of your life and to rise to a new day, every day.
