Distributed Programming using Java ITC327 Name: Student No: Group No: Darren Stuart 9406 9310 5 The purpose of this read me file is to provide guidance for the marker when viewing this assignment. The assignment has been prepared as an HTML document and with a full version being provided online at http://athene.mit.csu.edu.au/~dstuar03/itc327/ The files that have been provided in this ZIP file are all files that relate to my individual portion of the assignment. To view the combined group efforts such as, communications log, system class diagram and system use cases please go to the web address listed above. The reason for this approach is that the entire web site is made up of more than 150 files. It didn't seem practical to ZIP the entire web site when it may be viewed online. NB: If directories have not been created when extracting the files from DarrenStuart.ZIP Please re-extract the files with the Use folder names box checked. 1. To view the information provided please open ass1/equip.html in your web browser. It is now just a simple process of following all the links to the appropriate documents. 2. The JAVA programs provided are both applications and applets. To successfully run these programs please refer to the code and applet section of the HTML documents or follow the information provided below. 3. The JAVA application has been broken up into 2 programs. 1 for the Administrator/Privileged User and 1 for the Normal User. Follow the directions below to implement the applications. prompt >start osagent -c (from any directory) prompt >start vbj EquipSuppServer (Normal User Interface) prompt >vjb EquipClient (Normal User Interface) prompt >start vbj EquipAdminServer (Administrator/Privileged User Interface) prompt >vjb EquipAdminClient (Administrator/Privileged User Interface) 4. The applet may be successfully run in a browser or appletviewer. To run in a browser I suggest that the GOLUM server link on the applet page be followed. To run in appletviewer refer to the commands listed below: prompt>start osagent -c (from any directory) prompt>gatekeeper (from same directory as applet) prompt>start vbj EquipSuppServer (Normal User Interface) prompt>appletviewer equipapplet.html NOTE: The applet will be implemented for the privileged user in the second assignment.
