President’s Message
Happy New Year! I hope you all had nice holidays, and welcome to the final stretch of the ’08-’09 Estate Planning Council season. We have some great programs scheduled for our remaining meetings. In fact our next meeting will feature Jeff and Michele Lerman of the Lerman Law Group. They will be discussing “Challenges and Opportunities in 2009 for Investors and Estate Planning Professionals”. I would like to thank everyone who joined us for the Blackhawk event in January. We had over 140 attendees, by far our largest turnout ever! Keith Schiller did a great job being entertaining as well as informative. However, I am not sure that I would want to go to the movies with him. He sees estate planning issues in every scene!

Challenges and Opportunities in 2009 for Investors and Estate Planning Professionals.
Our February meeting promises to be another engaging joint presentation on a timely subject for all of our membership. We are fortunate to have Jeffrey H. Lerman, Esq., and Michelle C. Lerman, Esq., of Lerman Law Partners, LLP, San Rafael, as our presenters on the topic that is front burner for all of us. No one can escape the realization that the challenges in 2009 are unprecedented, and of course, we also are confident that opportunities await those who do not run and hide under a rock because of the challenges. Jeff Lerman, 2007 President of the Marin County Bar Association, specializes in commercial real estate law, and is a frequent lecturer on real estate and litigation topics, including his recent presentation at UC Berkeley on "What Real Estate Investors May Expect in 2009". Jeff is a graduate of UCLA School of Law, where he was Editor of the Law Review, and received his undergraduate degree from UC, Berkeley. Michelle is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the State Bar of California, and is a highly sought after speaker and lectures on the forefront of current developments in estate planning design strategies. Michelle received her undergraduate degree from UCLA, and her J.D from USC Law Center. Thus, Jeff and Michelle will combine their areas of expertise to provide us with timely advise and counsel for all of our membership and our clients as we confront the challenges before us in 2009. So, please join us on February 5th, and bring a guest. You will not be disappointed.

If you have not brought a guest to one of our meetings this year, you only have a few more opportunities to do so. Guests & are the way we grow our council, Steven Polaski, CFP® just like referrals are the way you 925.977.8353 grow your business.
