How did you meet?
Stephen used to come and see the osteopath at the Natural Health
REAL LIFE Service clinic where I was training to be a medical herbalist. The
WEDDING osteopath was a friend of mine who was trying to fix us up; I kept
saying ‘I don’t want to meet anyone’. We finally met and that was
it... love at first sight.
Tell us about the engagement
It was my birthday and I knew Stephen had been to the jewellers.
I came out the shower and he said he had something to ask me.
I said, ‘Will you hold on a minute till I get dried?’ and he had to
wait. So it wasn’t romantic but it was quite funny. And he had had
a lovely Celtic ring made for me.
How did you enjoy the wedding planning?
I really enjoyed it. My best friend Concetta was brilliant and did
loads to help, she was better than any wedding planner I could
have hired. I didn’t find it stressful, I don’t see what the big fuss
is about, but then I suppose some people are more perfectionist
What made you choose your venue?
Glenskirlie was the only place we looked at. It was perfect because
we wanted a castle and it was just along the road from where

“We had a vegan ethical wedding, we wouldn’t have done
it any other way. All the food was cruelty-free and didn’t –
as my friend pointed out – ‘inconvenience’ animals in any
way! We are vegans ourselves, and didn’t feel it was right
to change on our wedding day. The food was gorgeous, all
the guests said what a fantastic job Glenskirlie did.
To match my Celitc-style dress I got a truly beautiful tiara

and she said, ‘Have you done all the paperwork?’ I said, ‘What paperwork?’
We then went into a complete panic. I had to get Stephen to rush through to
Falkirk and sort it out – we literally had a couple of hours to spare to get the
official forms in.
Then on the actual day, Stephen was supposed to pick his best man up on the
way to Glenskirlie, but he forgot!
What were the best bits of the day?
Definitely the ceremony. Afterwards people said it was the most romantic and
unusual wedding they had ever been to.
Our band for the evening, Soundcradle, [booked through the Central Music
Agency] were fab. They were a right laugh and played anything anyone
requested. They also encouraged the guests to get up and sing with them. We BRIDAL DE S IGNE R

Top wedding present?
We asked people not to bother with gifts but bring a Christmas tree bauble with
them instead, then we put a tiny name tag on each and decorated our tree with
them, and will do so every year to mark our anniversary.
Best thing about getting married?
Having all the people you care about gather together to help you celebrate.
Afterwards married life feels different, even though your life’s just the same

Did you stick to your budget?
We were under budget, it looked more expensive than it actually was.
