Spirit of Georgia Pageants
Pageant Date/Place/Time/Admission January 24, 2009 – Bainbridge, GA – West Bainbridge Middle School - 3:00pm - $5.00 Age Groups  Baby – 6 to 23 months  Teeny – 2 to 3 years old  Tiny – 4 to 5 years old  Little – 6 to 7 years old  Junior – 8 to 10 years old  Pre-Teen – 11 to 12 years old  Most Beautiful Teen – 13 to 17 years old Areas of Competition Baby, Teeny, Tiny: Beauty – 30%, Dress – 30%, Poise/Personality – 30%, Paperwork – 10% Little, Junior, Pre-Teen: Interview (3min) – 30%, Poise/Personality – 30%, Dress – 20%, Introduction – 5%, On-Stage question – 5%, Fact Sheet – 10% Most Beautiful Teen: Interview (5min) – 30%, Poise/Personality – 30%, Dress – 20%, Introduction – 5%, On-Stage Question – 5%, Fact Sheet – 10% Judging Criteria Beauty – judges will be looking for overall natural beauty of the contest. Dress – judges will be looking at the beauty, style, and fit of the dress only: Does it fit the contestant? Does it compliment the contestant? Is it appropriate for the age of the contestant? Judges should be able to look past the dress and see the contestant! Poise/Personality – judges will be looking for how well the contestant projects herself beyond the front of the stage: smile, confidence, walk, turns, etc. Walk pattern and turns will be provided at least one week before pageant. Introduction – judges will be looking for the ability of the contestant to speak on stage, providing information set forth by the pageant director. Introduction should be less than 30 seconds. Your introduction must contain the following information in no particular order. Intro example - Little thru Most Beautiful Teen - Good afternoon, I am _____________ Miss contestant # _____, (name) ________________. I am the _____ year old daughter of __________ from _____________. Today I am proud to be sponsored by _______________. State one interesting fact about Georgia or why you are proud to live in Georgia (one sentence). Tiny Miss - Good afternoon, I am _____________ Miss contestant # _____, (name) ___________________ from _________________________. Any more or less content will be judged accordingly. Baby and Tiny Miss contestants will be introduced by the emcee. Interview – judges will be looking at how well the contestant handles herself in a conversational type atmosphere, answering age appropriate questions in front of a panel of three judges. Contestant must wear age appropriate clothing, preferably a Sunday dress or interview suit. On-Stage Question - judges will be looking for the ability of the contestant to speak on stage, answering a pre-determined question. A list of possible questions will be given to each contestant following interview. Fact Sheet – judges will be looking at the content and neatness of the contestant’s fact sheet: Did the contestant/parent follow the fact sheet directions/specifications set forth by the pageant director? Are there any misspellings? Is everything legible? Is all of the information truthful? Can

the contestant talk freely about any subject on their fact sheet? No handwritten fact sheets allowed! Photogenic (optional) – judges will be looking for the contestant that likes the camera and the contestant that the camera likes. Does the picture have character? Does the picture speak to the judge? It is important that the picture submitted looks like the contestant! Entry Fees ALL Age Divisions - $50 to compete in pageant Optionals (Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Dress, Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Eyes, Photogenic) - $10 each or $40 for all Optional Talent (Tiny, Little, Junior, Pre-Teen, Most Beautiful Teen) - $25; two minute time limit; will compete after all preliminary competition is over; one overall winner for all four age divisions and one runner-up; will be judged on technique, entertainment value, difficulty for age, and showmanship; all types of talent are welcome (singing, dance, monologue, etc.), be creative; no animal acts Optional Casual Wear (Tiny, Little, Junior, Pre-Teen, Most Beautiful Teen) - $25; will compete after all preliminary competition is over; one overall winner for all four age divisions and one runner-up; will be judged on casual wear attire (fit, style, etc.), personality, and modeling technique Fact Sheet Instructions (Little, Junior, Pre-Teen, Most Beautiful Teen)  All information on the fact sheet should be in Times New Roman font and a font size of 10 to12. Heading can be 16 font.  BOLD and CAPITALIZE each subject (NAME, SCHOOL, etc.).  One inch margin at top, bottom, and both sides.  Fact Sheet should not exceed one page.  Must be printed in black ink on white paper. The heavier the paper weight the better.  See Example Fact Sheet.  Provide five (5) copies of your fact sheet when your paperwork is turned in. Pictures Your picture for the program can be emailed to spiritofga@yahoo.com or mailed in with your paperwork. Photogenic pictures should be mailed in with your paperwork only. Photogenic pictures should be 8x10 or 5x7. Please place a label on the back of your picture stating your name and age category. If you send two pictures in with your paperwork, specify which one is for photogenic. You may use the same picture for both the program and photogenic. Only one picture per contestant may be entered in optional photogenic. Deadlines All paperwork must be received by January 17, 2009. Interview/Rehearsal Interviews will be held Saturday morning January 24th. Interview times will be sent out via email on Monday, January 19th. Rehearsal will be held following your interview. Prizes The winner of each age division will receive a crown, banner, flowers, and a trophy. Depending on the number of entries, each division winner may also receive a savings bond. Script Information

On-Stage Walk EXAMPLE: Sally Gilmore – Little Miss contestant # _________ Sally is the seven year old daughter of Frank and Susie Gilmore of Valdosta, GA. She is in the third grade at Oakview Elementary School. Sally’s favorite subject in school is math. Her favorite food is pepperoni pizza. Sally loves to dance and currently takes jazz, ballet, and tap. She is an avid fan of Hannah Montana. **Please limit to 5 – 7 sentences. This will be read when your daughter is on stage during the dress/gown portion of the pageant. You may include whatever information you see fit (honor roll, perfect attendance, favorites, accomplishments, awards, goals, etc). Print this information on an 8.5 X 11 piece of paper and return with paperwork. Double space and use at least a size twelve font. Remember, you can’t include everything. Make it interesting. Talent Introduction EXAMPLE: Sally Gilmore, contestant # _____ In 1960 Connie Francis took this song to the top of the charts. Here to perform the theme song from the American coming-of-age comedy film, Where the Boys Are, is Sally Gilmore. **Please limit introduction to 3 – 4 sentences. Hospitality Queen 2009
We will crown a hospitality queen based on the number of Spirit lines and/or the number of business card ads each contestant sells. To be eligible for this title a contestant must sell at least twelve (12) spirit lines or one (1) ad. There will only be one winner for all six age divisions. A CASH prize, a crown, and a banner will be awarded to the winner. In case of a tie the winner will be determined by the number of business card ads sold. Spirit lines Spirit lines can be sold to family members and/or friends for $2.00 each line. Your Spirit line page should be sent in with your paperwork as well as the money you collected. Each page should have the contestant’s name, be double spaced between each line, typed in Times New Roman, and have a font size of 12. Your spirit lines will be printed in the program. Spirit Line EXAMPLE: Good luck Jordan! You are our Princess! Love, Granny and Papa Business card ads Business card ads can be sold to businesses for $25. All cards will be printed in the program. All business cards should have the contestant’s name printed on the back and be sent in with your paperwork. **Any contestant selling more than $300 in ads/spirit lines will be eligible to represent the Miss Spirit of Georgia Pageant as a Princess during Miss Georgia week. You will be able to appear on the Miss Georgia stage during pageant week either during a production number or during the evening wear competition.
