USPS Price Change for 2010 Announcement released by the United States Post Office about the price changes for the USPS competitive services which will take effect on January 4, 2010, the same day UPS & FedEx raise their rates. The overall increase will be 3.3% on average. Our competitive shipping services include Priority Mail, Express Mail, Express Mail International, Priority Mail International, Parcel Select and Parcel Return Service. There will be NO increase for market dominant mailing services in 2010. Market dominant services include First Class Mail, Standard Mail, Periodicals, Media Mail, Library Mail, Bound Printed Matter and associated special services (certified etc). Priority Mail - The cost starts at $4.90 then increases by weight and distance. The farther the distance away the package has to travel and the heavier the package, the more expensive the postage is. Express Mail – The cost starts at $13.65 then increases by weight and distance. The farther the distance away the package has to travel and the heavier the package, the more expensive the postage is. Be Aware that Flat Rate Packaging prices have changed and are noted in the charts below. The USPS provides Priority & Express Flat Rate packaging as well as regular Priority & Express packaging. If you are shipping a package to a destination that is far away, weighs more than 13 ounces & less than 70 pounds, Flat Rate may be right for you. However, if you are using a Flat Rate box & Regular Priority is cheaper, you still must pay the Flat Rate. This does not include the cost of first class letters & other USPS services. Central Mail Services will be taking the initiative to continue to ship your packages using the most cost effective & time effective method. Be advised that when you ship personal mail at the KSU Contract Post Office you will be charged by the retail rates.
