Correspondence regarding the World Cup should be sent to Vincent Coppenolle. How can you qualify? Players can qualify for the world cup either by being in the world’s top players n the FISTF World Rankings of April 2005 or by being selected by their national association. The organizers will not be allowed to accept registrations from players if they are not confirmed by their national associations. Do you need practice? The players who come for a longer period in Belgium will be invited to visit some of the country’s most beautiful places (Bruges, Brussels, Antwerp, Gent). All these cities can be reached in one hour by car. Players who want to play table football and to practice before the tournament will have the possibility to play every day between 9.00 am and 9.00 pm in the club’s room of Templeuve United, at 10 km from the hart of Tournai. Special training sessions will be organized for players who arrive a couple of days before the tournament. Any question ? For any question regarding the world cup or your stay in Belgium, don’t hesitate to contact Vincent Coppenolle. Answers will be delivered in a very short delay. How to reach Tournai ? Tournai is close to the French border but it’s very easy to get there. Players coming by plane can take a train to Tournai from both Brussels and Brussels South/Charleroi airports. It won’t take you more than one hour from Charleroi and about 90 minutes from Brussels. The Tournai train station is at one km only from the CET Hall. Tournai, a beautiful city The city of Tournai is one of the three oldest city of Belgium. The center of Tournai has a couple of beautiful medieval buildings as the cathedral, the famous “Pont des Trous” (a bridge from the Middle Age over the river crossing the hart of the city) and the belfry but also a lot of old churches and beautiful antique houses. There is much to see in Tournai: museums, a nice shopping center and great sports infrastructures, which includes the CET Hall where the former division 1 basket-ball team of Tournai used to play. The Davies Cup match between Belgium and Zimbabwe was also organized in April 2004 in the same hall as the table football world cup. Cheap accommodations The organizers have booked the 100 beds of the Tournai Youth Hostel (see www.laj.be for details) for the nights of Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. The Youth hostel is a very nice place with a lot of common rooms with up to eight beds. The price of the bed & breakfast will not exceed 16 Euros per night. The Youth Hostel stands at 300 meters from the CET Hall and 200 meters from the belfry. The draw will probably be organized in the Youth Hostel as well in the Friday evening. Players who want to stay in another hotel can contact the organizers to receive a list of recommended hotels.
