Summer Research Program - Are you a junior? Are you interested in Medical Research? March 15 is the application deadline for the American Cancer Society's "Summer Research Program." See Mrs. Metzger in Student Services for an application. Freshman Class Board Members - Please come EARLY to the meeting on Monday morning. We will start at 8:05 in the theater! Creative Arts Field Trip - Students planning to attend the Creative Arts field trip to Forest View next Friday, March 13 must submit the form and money by the end of the day TODAY to Mrs. Larson in Room 137. Thanks. Student Athletic Trainer - Any student interested in becoming a student athletic trainer for the spring season, there will be a mandatory meeting in the training room on Wed. March 11 right after school...Any questions see Ms.Strama JAMBA JUICE - GET YOUR JAMBA JUICE!!! NEXT WEEK, CHOIR WILL BE SELLING JAMBA JUICE DURING ALL LUNCH PERIODS FOR $3.50. PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE EG CHOIR PROGRAM. Automotive Troubleshooting Contest - Start your engines and please congratulate Adam Collins on qualifying down state for an automotive troubleshooting contest. Also, please recognize Shant, Beefy, Mike Thomas, Dave Robinson, Anthony Rogers, Adrian Biela and Billy Miller for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the test. Japanese Exchange Group Visitors - Hey, it starts next week. The 21st annual Japanese Exchange Group visitors will be at our school starting Monday, March 9. The student council assembly for them is fifth hour in the theater. Let's give our guests a warm Grenadier welcome. Food Drive - In two weeks, March 17-20, Elk Grove High School will be hosting a food drive to benefit local food pantries. Please begin to set aside any food you and your family can spare, any food will be much appreciated.
It is never to early to start preparing. More information will be provided next week. Positive Body Image Week - Next week is positive body image week! All week, March 9-13, Alexian Brothers Hospital and Public Service Practicum will have a table outside the lunchroom to offer information. Also, please come to the theater on March 10 during all lunch periods to see a speaker discuss issues regarding positive body image. Career Treks - Are you a future Engineer, a future Psychologist or Counselor, a future Fashion Buyer, or a future Choreographer? If you answered yes.....or even maybe....to any of these questions, Mrs. Metzger has got the perfect Career Trek planned for you! The Behavioral Health Career Trek, sponsored by Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, is Wednesday (permission forms on the blue clipboard). The Fashion Marketing Career Trek to Claire's Corporate Headquarters is Thursday (permission forms on the pink clipboard). STUDENT WORKERS - THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IS LOOKING FOR STUDENT WORKERS TO RUN THE SCOREBOARD FOR HOME SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL GAMES THIS SPRING. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE STOP DOWN AFTER 4TH HOUR TO SEE MR. ROWLEY OR MR. BIERNACKI IN THE ATHLETIC OFFICE. National Hispanic College Fair - Calling all Hispanic students who are JUNIORS! Please stop by Ms. Cassiday's office in Student Services to get your permission slip to attend the National Hispanic College Fair in Waukegan. We will be taking a bus to this exciting event on Thursday, March 19. You must have a permission form signed by your teachers to attend. There are only 40 spaces available. This is a great chance to hear from
many of the finest colleges, universities and trade schools on what opportunities they have to offer. Sign up now! Honor Roll Lists - Students, Please take a moment to check the Honor Roll lists posted by Student Services. If you have any questions, or if you had a grade change which may have effected you being on the 4 or 7 semester honor roll, please see the Registrar before today. Staff Talent Show - Buy your tickets for 7th annual Staff Talent Show during the lunch hours on today. The show is tonight at 7pm in the theater. Come see Mr. Bush, The Vectors of Soul, One Foot In, Mr. Arey, Happy Hands dancers, Mr. and Ms. Prorak among others. The money raised at this show will be awarded to several graduating seniors to help them pay for school next year. White Card - If you are going out for a spring sport come down to the activities office and get your white card! Don't Delay Come Today!! American Cancer Society's Relay for Life - Relay for Life Sign up week is here! Please get a group of friends together and join the fight against cancer. Teams of 10-15 people can sign up during lunch periods this week. It's never to early to prepare for Relay for Life, which runs June 12-13. We can make a difference by working together! Towne CRIER auditions - Audition CD's to help students prepare for the upcoming Towne CRIER auditions are available from Mrs. DeJager in room 171. If you missed the informational meeting, stop by 171 and pick up an audition packet, in addition to the CD. Remember, auditions are on Tuesday, March 17th! Prom Dress Extravaganza - Kenneth Young Center Resale Shop will hold a Prom Dress Extravaganza Sale during the month of April. The shop is at 1150 S Roselle Rd, Schaumburg IL 60193. A prom dress drive is going on during March. Prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, cocktail dresses, even mother-of-the-bride dresses will be collected. After the shop closes April 1st, a team of volunteers will display the dresses and the extravaganza sale will be underway the following morning at 10 am sharp. Girls and women will be able to clean out their closets.
Summer Research Program - Are you a junior? Do you enjoy science? Have you ever considered a career in medicine or medical research? The American Cancer Society offers a Summer Research Program for students that will graduate in 2010. Accepted students will work in one of Illinois' top research laboratories at prestigious academic institutions such as University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Loyola University Medical Center. Students work with a leading cancer researcher on an independent research project. See Mrs. Metzger in Student Services for an application. Application deadline is March 15. Nursing or Fire-fighting Scholarship - Any senior pursuing a career in nursing or fire-fighting may apply for the $2000 Adam Johnson Memorial Scholarship.
