					Building Services
Security:
Mercy & Unity Hospitals provide security services to all individuals using our campuses. An inhouse security staff provides this service, and is available 24 hours per day. This department provides a number of functions, which include; patrolling both inside and outside the buildings. They also respond to patient and visitor problems, and requests for escort services to and from your car. All employees are a part of the security plan. All employees need to be aware of their surroundings and report any unusual activities, or suspicious individuals. Contact your security officer anytime you witness a suspicious person or event, both inside and outside the building. Reducing the opportunities for crime: Employees can help reduce the chance of crime by eliminating the opportunities. Keep purses locked up when they are not in your possession. Close and lock offices when you are not there. Keep valuable items in your trunk rather than sitting in plain view in your car, and lock your car when you park it. Remember to contact security for any suspicious activities. Contact security at Mercy (x68077 or Unity (x63077). If you need security immediately, dial x6333 (Mercy & Unity Hotline). Escort Requests: When calling for an escort, dial the security number listed above or use the seven-digit number when calling from home. 763-236-8077 for Mercy and 763-236-3077 for Unity. Call 10-15 minutes before you plan to leave, so security can meet you in a timely manner.

Parking:
Mercy & Unity Hospitals have designated employee parking areas, as well as parking areas for visitors and patients. Employees, who work the first and second shifts, must never park in the visitor and patient parking areas. Employees working the third shift and arriving at work after 9 p.m. may park in the visitor’s lot over night, if their car is removed by 8:00 a.m. the next morning. 2-11 parking Both hospitals have set aside areas for second shift employees going home after 10 p.m. These areas are called 2-11 parking areas. While day shift employees may park in this area, they must remove their car before 2 p.m. 3 p.m. – 1 p.m. Employees who come to work prior to 2 p.m. need to sign in on the clipboard inside the employee entrance (near the security office). This informs the officer who will be going out at 2 p.m. that you are not a dayshift employee, and you are working past 10 p.m. Dayshift employees whose car remains in this lot past 2 p.m. will be subject to parking enforcement. Parking Stickers: All employees are expected to have and display a parking sticker in their car. Stickers are available in the security office at either hospital and are good at either location. Parking Enforcement: Parking is strictly enforced at both locations. Vehicles, which are not parked in the proper lot or are not in designated parking spots, will be towed away at the owner’s expense unless a towing waiver has been signed prior to the infraction. A towing waiver allows the security department to assess a payroll-deducted fine in lieu of having the car towed.
