OCEAN VIEW LITTLE LEAGUE Board of Directors Meeting 19 November, 2008 MEETING MINUTES Location: Murdy Park Community Center Call to order: 7 PM Directors present: Erich Ziegler, Darby Ziegler, Sean Keegan, Frank Machado, Sean Pouelson, Randy Feit, Tod Minato, Karin Mayorga, Stephanie Green, Toby Reece Others present: Phil Shearer, Jeff Pratto, Tim Jackson, Alan Baker, Debi Wendell Treasurer Report: * See attached Budget Report Note: Sponsorship closer to $5000 Grant Check Received for fences $8167 Previous Business: Field: Reseeded with Rye to increase greenery Storage Bins: Phil S. Bins in. Karl H. will intall electrical Uniforms: Stef G. has not heard from company for deposit check. Grants: Tod will go to meeting 11/20. Submit grant by January 2009. Jeff P. suggests checking “Little League Links” for grant opportunities Phil S. mentions that the Adult school will be relocating in the future. Uncertain as to any effects on OVLL. Constitution: Approved by Mark at District. Next, need approval by members: Will begin voting at tryouts. Erich and Phil S. will prepare ballot and copy of the constitution. Yearbook: Need commitment to do it and how much we will charge. The cost will be approximately $4000. We will pay for it up front, and seek sponsorship. The board voted “yes” to approve. New Business: Fundraising: Jeff P. Hall of Fame Sponsorship checks received. Email generated to increase interest. Need 2nd email for recruitment to help get sponsors. Will forward list of things to do. Dan H. had scheduled 2 Restaurant fundraisers with Islands and CPK. Other ideas suggested: Lazy Dog, Oggi’s Kim V. needs a list of sponsors by Dec. 15 Jeff P. will talk with Ken D. regarding sponsorship on-line. Hit –a-thons: low end net $10,000. Based on length of hit by foot or flat pledge (tee – pitching machine depending on level) not to exceed 300 feet. Prizes for kid or team that hit the farthest. Hall-of-Fame Sponsor Dan Keller & Lifeletics Presentation Goal: Resource for OVLL, Real parnership, will donate gift certificates on OVLL practice package and 5 Lesson package. Will provide coaches training fundamental skills clinic.
Will offer Saturday pre-game deal ( 1/2 hour prior to games) discounted trial with OVLL. Values: Professional, Homework Zone, Role Model, Maximise each individual’s athletic potential in the game. Will offer Fundraising opportunity in the form of cage cards – Purchase price $40 and $10 goes back to league. Flyers will be available at coaching clinic or in the managers book, therefore, will need by January 1, 2009. John Legg/ Jon Cianci Pat’s Patio Furniture & Design Presentation Opportunity for fundraising whereby tickets are purched for a raffle for patio furniture valued at $14000. Dan Hershenson – Service Friday. Erich will send flowers from OVLL. We will dedicate Opening Day to him as well as fundraise for his sons Austin and Matthew. We will also write a Tribute in the Newsletter. Opening Day : Debi Wendell will be coordinatiing Opening Day. She has received program information from Darby Z. and plans to follow it. Carl’s Jr. is booked and the deposit has been made. Rich Amaral is on board. Stef will book both Murdy Fields for the day. D.J. – We will test our audio system at Tryouts. Email out for MC volunteer. Coaches Clinic: Rich Amaral will lead. Ask Craig N, and Craig D, HB Total Baseball to help as supportive roles. Angel Day: Deposit of $10,000 due. District 62 picks last, therefore the game we will attend could possibly be in mid June. Number of tickets last year 800. TOC/Allstars: TOC June 13-20 Allstars begin June 27 Will need to make a request in writing. Board voted “yes” to host again this year. Alan Baker: Supplies 20 cases baseballs Will assess equipment needed. Needs to know how many teams, then can have any necessary equipment available within 2 weeks. Tim J. has 2 complete Umpire Sets Alan Baker has 3rd set. Need improved check-in/ check-out system. Need to reassess the process for payment. Sean P. will provide 3 equipment bags for umpire gear. Tryouts: Will schedule on the Website Registration: Darby Z. – 360 plus so far. Local Rules: Committee – Tod Minato, Sean Pouelson, Jeff Prato Little League rule changes to pitching to discuss at next meeting. Other Leagues have favored option B.
