"Minutes of Jesus College Music Society Comittee Meeting Tuesday "
Minutes of Jesus College Music Society Comittee Meeting Tuesday 25th April 2006, 1.30pm Apologies Lei Wang, Kate Conway. 1. Signing of the minutes (these had been lost, so brief) 2. Matters arising There were no matters arising. 3.Eve of Commemoration of Benefactors It was felt that despite the noble effort this did not work. The history of the event was discussed, and the problems concerning with whom the responsibility rests with. Concerns of the timing were also raised. It was felt that it would only work if a student/group of students assumed responsibility. A decision needs to be reached asap to go in the college diary. Ideas of come and sing, Bach Cantatas were considered, and it was felt that perhaps new directions need to be sounded out for this. David to talk to Alex Boyd to see if he would like to take this on. 4. May Week Concert FOH - Kate knows what she is doing. Allocation of funds - a note to be written Extra folding chairs to be ordered, and seats to be made available in the South Transcept. Music - the Mozart Magic Flute Overture has been purchased by the society, problems concerning getting hold of the Elgar Wand of Youth. Through trying to get hold of this, it arose that JCMS is not held in high favour by several libraries due to past history, which the majority of the comittee were unaware. Laura to get Elgar Wand of Youth from her home library. Rehearsals - The choir is rehearsing 11.15 - 12.45, so JCMS to rehearse earlier/in the forum. Afternoon rehearsal not possible because of suicide Sunday. Publicity - Lei, Posters to be printed before exams, and put up after. Order of the Concert - as previously discussed, the choir has to be in the first half, becuase of issues concerning the boys. Laura felt that this would create problems as the boys and their parents would go home after the first half, or else there could be problems seating the boys in the second half. Programme order established as: Mozart - Regina Caeli Bernstein - Chichester Psalms Mozart - Magic Flute Overture Elgar 5. Orchestral Fixing Concerns were raised by John that not all the players were from within college that could have been. However, it became apparent, for example in the oboe section, that the reasons were due to people being away/finalists, amongst other reasons. Many thanks to Ellie for a fantastic fixing job that she has done this year. 8. Date of next meeting Undecided - to be left until after exams.
