Terms and Conditions About the Scholarship Programs:
The ‘Music Changing Lives’ Scholarship was established by the Lone Star Wind Orchestra to provide support for students who plan to pursue a secondary education with a major in music. Music majors may include, but are not limited to composition, education, performance, production and synthesis. Lone Star is an ardent advocate of life-long musical involvement and its benefits, and believes music can positively change ones’ life. To that end Lone Star continues to make a difference in the lives of young adults by way of these educational scholarships. The Alice and Henry Reeves Memorial Scholarship was established by the Lone Star Wind Orchestra to provide support for students who plan to stay involved with music while pursuing a non-musical major in college. Alice and Henry were ardent advocates of music. Their legacy lives on and will continue to make a difference in the lives of those in need by way of educational scholarships. Their strong commitment to music and their pioneering spirit will forever be remembered. Eligibility: Seniors in good standing who will graduate from a North Texas area high school. Preference is given to first generation college attendees (first generation is defined as: parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university). Minimum high school 3.0 GPA in both Junior and Senior years of high school. Accepted by or are in the process of enrolling as a full-time student at an accredited, post-secondary institution. Preference given to, but not limited to, students involved in a school sanctioned college band group. Academically motivated as determined by a school transcript and two letters of recommendation. All applications must be printed, mailed and postmarked on or before March 7, 2009 (see address below).
