Book Fair We have had another very successful book fair and sold over £500. This means that the whole school will benefit from over £200 worth of new books and resources for the library and classrooms. Thank you to everyone for your most generous support. Cross Country Some of the children in KS2 will be representing the school at Buscot Park on Tuesday for the Faringdon cross-country festival from 4 – 5pm, they will all have received detailed letters. Parents are required to take their children to and from this event. Assessments As part of our ongoing assessment of each child’s academic development we will be assessing all the children throughout the year to monitor performance and progress. These assessments will be done in October, February and May. The first assessments this year will be next week, please ensure your child attends school because this is an important part of their education and the information collected at these times is essential to help form the next steps of learning. Data Sheets Every child should have brought home copies of their data records for every family to check that the details are correct. Please could you check these and return them to the school office ASAP even if there are no changes to be made as is it essential that we hold correct records on file. Also please notify us of any contact details that change during the school year. Open day for 2010 admissions We have great pleasure in inviting pre-school age children and their parents to come and visit our school at our Open Day on Wednesday 21st October. It is a great opportunity for parents with children who will be starting school next year with tours of the school at 10.00am and 1.30pm and an opportunity to meet the Headteacher and see how we work. Please pass this invitation to any friends and family who are looking at schools for September 2010 or making plans for the future.

Book Boxes We are currently in the process of relabelling the books and you may find that the boxes are not available for the next few days. Please bear with us while we complete this exercise. Special thanks to Kim Murrells for helping to co-ordinate this. Admissions and Transfers Any parents whose children are eligible to be admitted to Foundation Stage in September 2009 can collect from the office the Starting School brochure with CAF forms that are required by Oxfordshire County Council to be completed and returned by 13th November 2009. Parents of Year 6 pupils due to transfer to Secondary School next September should now have received a form from school or sent directly from the LEA. The deadline for submitting forms is 2nd November 2009. Please see the office if you have any queries relating to admissions. Safeguarding Children From time to time we send out information leaflets with community related activities that may be of interest to parents and children. These are distributed to signpost you to things that might be of interest to you in the local area and may not necessarily be directly linked to school documentation or activities. Urgent Message from Junior Club Please note that there is no Junior Club on Friday (2nd October) but there will be one on Friday 9th October. News from Friends: Family Disco Join the fun at the Friends family disco on Friday 16th October, 6 – 8.30pm. Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £15 for a family ticket.
