Jazzercise is going green this New Year. Join us as we do our part to make an environmental difference with the three Rs – reduce, reuse, and recycle. In January, we’re focusing on reducing our energy use – and you can too. Look for the flyer in class….

This year our class theme will be “Make it happen as we MAKE THE CONNECTION!” what does that mean? That means we will make it happen for our bodies ~ come to class, work it out and work our bodies to its potential…”Make the Connection” ~ we will connect with someone outside of our class and introduce them to being fit and living healthy with jazzercise…keep your eyes open for more information in class on the “Make the Connection” portion…in order to fit with the “Make it Happen” portion…I will have available starting January 19, 2007 your “Commitment To Me” form…we will commit to having fun and being fit in 2008…you and your instructors will ensure you are meeting your goals and reaching your commitments! At the end of 2008 we will be so proud with all that we have accomplished. In 2008 we’ll be keeping some of the wonderful things we’ve created and building on that…We will be keeping the class made by you, class promotions and our class outings (this is a great way for us to get to know each other ~ bring friends and family, the more the merrier)…don’t worry there is more to come… Well, as promised we will be taking our fitness to the next level. What does that really mean? Personal Touch is back. You’ve been eagerly waiting…well it’s here…We know so many of you enjoyed it so much last time and kept asking when it was coming back…well it’s time…it is BACK!…with a twist…look for more details to follow later in the month. It’s going to be a good time…we promise! Many thanks to all of you who have made suggestions for the class in 2007, you should be noticing some changes being made and those suggestions being implemented, you’ve asked for more balls and bands in class, we’ve been doing it just for you, you’ve asked for more classes ~ we are working on that, the more we can grow the classes the more we can bring to you…so ~ make the connection…pull your friends, family, spouses, and co-workers into class…plus the gift of health and fitness is the BEST gift anyone can give.

Congrats to all of you who made 25 classes or more in 2007…GREAT Work!!! This is a new year which means new cards….oh yeah ~ oh yeah oh yeah baby……The 2008 cards have been handed out in class…if you have not received one make sure you get it…you’ll get some fabulous gifts for hitting 150 and 200 classes…(I did mention we’re taking everything higher and higher this year, didn’t i???  Well this is no exception…get excited and get in class ~ The 25 classes seemed so easy for ya ~ we just had to take it higher…we always love a challenge, right? As the weather begins to challenge us, don’t let it challenge your workout…keep coming to class ~ the more you come the better you will feel…you’ll get those endorphins kickin’ and your energy will be boundless…I am so proud of the work you have done in 2007….I can’t wait to see how you’ll amaze me in 2008 but I’m excited and ready to see it!

Chicken Wild Rice Soup from the Pastor's Wife
Received from the recipezaar website
My old pastor's wife used to make this. She was an incredible cook! I will use any recipe of hers-1¼ hours 10 min prep 3 (10 ounce) cans condensed chicken broth 2 cups water 1/2 cup wild rice 1/2 cup chopped green onions

1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1/8 teaspoon pepper 2 cups half-and-half 1 1/2 cups cooked chicken 8 slices cooked bacon 2 tablespoons dry sherry 1 tablespoon chopped pimiento (optional) Not the one? See other Chicken Wild Rice Soup from the Pastor's Wife Recipes 1. Combine broth and water. Add wild rice and onion. Simmer 35-40 minutes until rice is tender. 2. In a separate saucepan, melt butter on low heat and stir in flour, salt, chicken seasoning and pepper. 3. Stir constantly, to prevent burning, until smooth and bubbly. 4. Add half and half and cook until thickens-about 2 minutes. 5. Slowly add half and half mixture to the rice, stirring constantly. 6. Add remaining ingredients, stirring until thoroughly heated!

Hint, hint… Start off the New Year with a healthy pantry

Waiting for an appointment the other day, I read a magazine article that said you should never clean house on New Year's Day, because you may sweep out new ideas and good intentions. Any day after January 1st is fair game, though, and if eating well is on your list of resolutions, then it might be time to tackle that pantry.

Though staple foods like flour, spices, and oils have a much longer shelf life than fresh foods, they do eventually go bad. You can extend the shelf life of many staples by storing them in the fridge, but it's still a good idea to keep an eye on expiration dates. CBS News has a few tips for keeping your pantry fresh and filled with good foods. And once you've taken care of tossing out those old, out-dated products, you can refill your pantry will healthful

that will help you reach your goals in the New Year. (Keep in mind that if you buy in

smaller quantities, you won't have to toss out so much expired food later.)
