DV Studio Plus can be used to set customized track sequencing, playback modes and playback features, thus determining different video playback modes from the CompactFlash Card. DV Studio Plus Features: • • • • • • • • • Playlist file and project file creation. Play mode setting customization. Pre-setting audio level per track. Key buttons profile setting. Barcode profile setting. Track information. Playlist information. Startup mode selection. Schedule. Page 3 2 Running DV Studio Plus 2.1 The DV Studio Plus Desktop You should install DV Studio Plus on your PC running Windows 98, 2000 or XP. When you start DV Studio Plus, you see the startup screen (see the following page): Page 4 This main screen contains several tools which are represented by icons in the toolbar: Page 5 3 Project & Playlist 3.1 About project files and playlists DV Studio Plus and the DV Video Players work with project files and playlists. A project file describes an entire project. It can contain multiple playlists, which are used to tell the unit how to play the content on the media card. DV Studio Plus generates these project files and playlists. The normal sequence of playlist generation is: Step 1: Create a new project file Step 2: Create a new playlist within this project (or – from software version 1.5 – multiple playlists, e.g. to have one play 9am-5pm and one 5pm-9am) Step 3: Assign videos to that playlist and set play order, etc Step 4: Export the playlist and project file (careful: export format is different from saved format!) The rest of this chapter explains steps 1-3; chapter 4 explains step 4. 3.2 Personalizing your Project & Playlist 3.2.1 Create a new project/playlist • Click Project to activate pull-down menu for selection. • • • Click New Project to start a new project. Click Playlist to activate another pull-down menu. To create a playlist, click Add Playlist and select New. Page 6 • Enter the filename of playlist (*.pll) and then press Save. 3.2.2 Adding MPEG tracks into the playlist • • • • Click Track to activate pull-down menu for selection. To add MPEG tracks, click Insert Track. Enter a list of MPEG Video file(s) (*.MPG) and press Open. The MPEG files will be added into the playlist window. 3.2.3 Removing MPEG tracks from the playlist • • • • Highlight the MPEG Video filename (*.MPG) from the playlist window. Click Track to activate pull-down menu for selection. To remove MPEG tracks, click Remove Track. The selected MPEG files will be removed from the playlist window. 3.2.4 Saving the Project • • • Click Project to activate pull-down menu for selection. To save the current project, click Save Project. Enter the project filename (*.prj) and then press Save. Important: These project/playlist file is worked for DV Studio Plus ONLY. It is not a playable file and not able to work on CF card. Please use “Export” function to create a proper “default.prj” and .pll for playlist operation. 3.2.5 Opening the Project • • • Click Project to activate pull-down menu for selection. To open the existing project, click Open Project. Enter the project filename (*.prj) and then press Open. Page 7 • It is recommended that all project (.prj), playlist (.pll) and movie files are saved and located in the same folder. Important: When you are going to copy those project and playlist files to other computer, make sure all files path of .prj/.pll/.mpg/.jpg are created as the same path as the source drive on destination drive. Otherwise, the DV Studio Plus cannot import all associated movie files and playlist file. If you have some button defined in your playlist, please also copy a DVBUTTON.INI file to the same path as source drive on destination drive. The DVBUTTON.INI is located at the following path by default. C:\Program files\DigitalView\DVStudio\1.4\plus\DVBUTTON.INI DVBUTTON.INI The DVBUTTON.INI stores all the button profiles you have created in DV Studio plus. If you transfer a new DVBUTTON.INI from other computer, your old DVBUTTON.INI will be overwritten and will lost all the button definition you had created in the past. (See Section 5.3 – Buttons profile settings ) Therefore, Please do BACKUP your old INI file before you copy a new DVBUTTON.INI file. Page 8 4 Exporting project and playlist Note: Be careful that you always save the exported format of playlist and project file to your flash cards, and not the “saved” version. 4.1 Writing to CompactFlash Card Before writing to the CompactFlash card, make sure the CF card reader is connected and the driver is well installed.
