Expanded Statement of Institutional Purpose Mission Statement: To provide quality, responsive, lifelong learning opportunities, including occupational, degree, and other educational programs for individuals, business and industry, and the communities we serve. Departmental/Program Intended Outcomes/Objectives Assessment Criteria & Procedures Assessment Results Use of Results

1. By the end of the Associate's Degree program students will be able to: A. Understand all core criminal justice foundations including juvenile justice, criminology, constitutional law, corrections, private security, and US Judicial and Criminal Justice systems.

A1 25% increase in the average of the post- CRJ140- 38% increase test scores from the pre-test scores in CRJ CRJ145- 34% increase 140 and CRJ 145.

Continue this assessment because it shows the level of understanding of our core outcomes in our CRJ program

Goal Statements:

A2. 30% increase in the average of the post-test scores from the pre-test scores in the comprehensive program test administered first in CRJ 145 and then in CRJ 298.

Continue to administer next year 08-09. We need to collect data for at least 3 years in order to show valid retention rates of our core knowledge areas.

B1. 90% of students will earn a grade of P Achieved: average was (Pass) for writing assignments for CRJ 298 92.96% utilizing the writing rubric on the final project. B2. 80% of students will receive an above satisfactory rating on their performance evaluation from the site supervisor at the end of CRJ 298. Continue Assessment, this keeps track of WAC and it shows our CRJ students'writing ability. Achieved: 100% Continue Assessment, because this shows our students' ability to be able to work in the real world and their ability to communicate effectively Completed/Attained Goal Continue assessment because it shows students' writing ability.

B3. 85% of students completing CRJ 115 (CJ report writing) will earn a grade of C or above.

5. Manage resources effectively and efficiently.

B4. 85% of students will earn a grade of C or above on the written communication rubric for CRJ 225. (WAC)

We raised the level last year. Continue Assessment because this shows our students' ability to communicate effectively in writing

Criminal Justice Program Mission Statement: Criminal Justice majors of C. C1. 85% of students will receive a grade of satisfactory on the analytical and problem solving skills assignment in CRJ 298.

C2. 80% of students will receive a 82% completed goal satisfactory score rating on the oral communication rubric/presentation in CRJ235 (SAC) C3. 80% of students will receive a 83% for CRJ175 and satisfactory grade on problem solving skill 89% for CRJ140 rubric for CRJ 175 and the skill questions in CRJ 140. D. Demonstrate the proper standards of D1. 80% of students will receive an above criminal justice professionalism, morals, and satisfactory rating on their performance ethics evaluation from the site supervisor at the end of CRJ 298. We used CRJ235 (we can also use CRJ295) and continue assessment. Continue for next year

Goal Statements:

"By the end of the police academy, students will be able to:" A. Demonstrate well-developed analytical and problem solving skills within the 9 core curriculum areas as established by the State of Ohio OPOTA

A1. The average score for each of the 9 tested core curriculum areas on the State Examination will be 80% or greater.

All but 3 areas were above 80%. This is one more than last year.

This was a new goal last year. We need to continue to offer more review sessions next year in the three areas. HR, TR and LG. We also must offer more testing in the three areas to better prepare them.

Criminal Justice Program Mission Statement:

Accomplished C1. Each student enrolled the police academy program will maintain over the course of the academy, an 80% or higher GPA in each academic course taken. C2. All students enrolled will receive an 80% or Accomplished higher on the writing assignments as well as the SPO sheets in CRJ217, CRJ224 and CRJ215

They are provided the opportunity to acquire the practical skills required for competent performance and employment in the law enforcement field.

C3. 80% of students will receive a satisfactory score rating on the oral communication rubric/presentation in CRJ276

Achieved
