Harbinger 2005 2358 HWY 101 West, Port Angeles, Washington 98363 Housed in a creatively refurbished ex-logging truck shop. 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Daily Or by appointment Sara Gagnon -- Owner, Winemaker Tammi Hinkle – Owner, Business Manager Harbinger Winery was born of a life-altering event that made Sara Gagnon take stock, reevaluate and change direction. While working as head winemaker at Olympic Cellars, a neighboring Port Angeles winery, Sara was involved in a serious small plane crash along with friend and fellow kayaker, Tammi Hinkle. The two survived, but with a new outlook on life. While putting her life back together, Sara determined that it was time for to take the reins and actively pursue her dream of opening a winery where she had complete freedom to create her own style of wines. When approached with the opportunity to become co-owner of a fledgling winery, Tammi, a professional guide and owner of Adventures Through Kayaking, was more than happy to invest in the endeavor. On August 3, 2005 (exactly one year after the accident), Sara and Tammi found themselves moving supplies into their newly leased “winery.” They called their new venture, “Harbinger,” a sign of things to come. Together, Sara and Tammi have turned the old logging truck shop that houses Harbinger into a “sheet metal chic” wine venue featuring large wooden beams and galvanized metal siding accented with rich woods and textiles (Harbinger is an exclusive showroom/outlet for Zenzizi Exotic Furnishings and Clothing). Locals stop by to relax, listen to occasional live music and learn the best places to kayak while enjoying the latest releases.

Annual Case Production: Wine Profile:

2000 Harbinger focuses on Rhône-style wines that exemplify balance and power, highlighting the fruit. Intense, flavorful grapes are carefully selected from multiple vineyard sources that showcase Washington State terroir. The grapes are then hand-picked and crushed within hours of harvest. Red wines are neither fined nor filtered to leave as much of the wines’ true character as possible where it belongs – in the bottle. Harbinger’s labor-intensive hands-on approach results in individualized, expressive wines that are structured, layered and highly drinkable. Viognier, Syrah, Mouvedre, Grenache, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Lemberger, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cranberry, Raspberry and Blackberry. NV Dynamo Red - a well-balanced blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. NV Dynamo White - an intensely aromatic blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. 2005 Evolution - a Bordeaux blend aptly named for how it will evolve gracefully with time. 2005 Syrah- Deep, dark, ripe fruit dominate the bouquet, marrying nicely with subtle oak notes. The velvety texture envelops the fruit nicely, wrapping it all up with a long, smooth finish. 2006 Rapture - a fruit-forward, powerhouse Cabernet Franc, with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. 2006 El Jefe - Traditional Rhone-style Red blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. Aptly named “The Boss.” 2007 Viognier- Truckloads of tropical fruits and spices infuse this dry, viscous elixir. Balanced notes of citrus and vanilla complete the package. 2007 Rose’ de Lemberger’- a dark rose’ with slices of strawberry rhubarb pie in the bouquet as well as on the palate. Totally dry, this wine has a crisp bright cherry finish. Great BBQ wine! The Bliss List, featuring Cranberry Bliss, Raspberry Bliss and Blackberry Bliss, blends fresh, flavorful fruit with the depth and sophistication of a timeless Bordeaux.
