Strong Roots

It’s all about roots.
it comes to improving the lives of Kansas children and families, our work is all about roots. Kansas Action for Children’s history is rooted in a strong tradition of service that has now spanned three decades. While nonprofits throughout the state work to ease the challenges facing Kansas children and families, KAC works on the frontlines at the Statehouse to target the root of problems impacting the health, education and economic stability of our next generation. We partner with lawmakers and other leaders under the Dome to speak up for Kansas children and to develop forward-thinking solutions — solutions that are rooted in practicality and proven to help children reach their fullest potential. By ensuring that future generations of Kansans have the tools they need to succeed, we can ensure that our families, our communities and our state will thrive for years to come.

For three decades, Kansas Action for Children has worked alongside lawmakers
and citizens to improve the lives of Kansas children and their families. Whether it’s impacting legislation at the Statehouse in Topeka or making sure Kansas children are represented in Washington, KAC works tirelessly to give our most vulnerable citizens — Kansas children — a voice that is heard.

Named one of journalism’s “most original thinkers” by The mcLaughlin Group, matt miller offers practical solutions to America’s most urgent social and political problems. matt is a Senior Advisor to mcKinsey & Company and an award-winning contributor to publications like The New York Times, Fortune magazine and The Washington Post. He previously served as senior Advisor to the director of the Office of management and Budget (OmB), and was a White House Fellow during the first Bush Administration. As keynote for KAC’s 30th anniversary event, matt will provide insight from his latest book, “The Tyranny of Dead Ideas,” that stands to reinvigorate our economy, our politics and our day-to-day lives.

You can see our work every day as more Kansas kids get the health insurance they need at a price their parents can afford ... as Kansas newborns receive improved screenings so that harmful or fatal conditions can be treated before they become costly medical problems ... and in the latest child safety seat and teen driving laws that make sure more children and young adults will survive car crashes on Kansas roads. For a complete list of our successes, visit www.kac.org/results. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, KAC would not be successful without the generous support of individuals, businesses and private foundations. Thousands of Kansans — like you — have joined together to ensure that KAC’s work continues to make Kansas the best place to live, work and raise a family. Together, we are making the difference for Kansas children and for our future.
