United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Hires Cheryl Lewis as Director of Resource Development and Promotes Tara Mady to Director of Marketing
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley has hired Cheryl Lewis as its new Director of Resource Development. Cheryl joins the United Way from Kent State University Trumbull Campus where she was Director of Advancement. Cheryl is a graduate of Heidelberg College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts in Education degree. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Mahoning/Shenango Chapter Board, Mahoning/Shenango Planned Giving Council, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Warren. Cheryl is a native of Tiffin, Ohio and came to the Mahoning Valley in 1993. She resides in Niles with her husband Murphy and daughter Logan. The United Way has also promoted Tara Mady to Director of Marketing. Tara joined the United Way in August 2007 as Resource Development Assistant. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University receiving both her Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in marketing management. Tara is a member of the Junior League of Youngstown serving as Chair of the In-League Communications Committee. She resides in Poland.

In addition to the recent staff changes, the organization has also recently launched their new website, www.ymvunitedway.org. The new site is easier to navigate allowing visitors to find the information they are looking for including the 2-1-1 program and United Way funded agencies. There is an e-newsletter sign-up for visitors to opt to receive monthly updates on United Way events, programs, and success stories. The site features conversion architecture which directs visitors to one of the United Way’s three focus areas: give, advocate, and volunteer. There is information on how to contact the United Way and make a donation. In the near future, there will be an option to donate online. Members of the community should visit the website regularly to stay up-to-date on the latest United Way events and learn how they can get involved.
