Rules of Eligibility
There is no limit to the number of cards each company can enter in a category. A company or brand may not win more than 3 of the 4 finalist places in each category. Entries can only be made by members of the Australian Greeting Card Association. Non-members may become members by filling out the entry form enclosed and paying the appropriate fee to qualify for the awards. To qualify for categories 1-3, 6-8, 10-12, 14-16 and 2023, greeting cards must be designed, printed and manufactured in Australia. All designers and illustrators in Australian categories must be permanent residents of Australia. To qualify for categories 4, 5, 9, 13, 17, 18 & 19, refer to footnotes below the Category listing for further details. The greeting cards must be from a production run of no less than 1,500 cards of each design. The greeting cards must have been offered for sale in Australia during the previous 12 months from the closing date of entry. A separate entry form and fee must be accompanied with every entry. Previous winning entries cannot be reentered. Entries not accompanied by the entry fee, the correct paperwork and samples required, will not be considered eligible for judging. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify without refund. Deadline: 10 March 2006
Each finalist (top four scoring entries) shall be notified prior to the presentation evening and will receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement. The winners will be announced at the AGCA Awards dinner to be held in June 2006. The winners of each category will receive a trophy and a certificate to recognise their achievement. All contributors to the manufacture of each winner including designers, illustrators, film makers, printers, paper distributors and finishers will be given a certificate to recognise their involvement. Suppliers will also have the option to receive a trophy at an additional cost outlined in the entry forms enclosed. All winners (excluding categories designed or manufactured outside Australia) will be eligible for the major award, the Australia Post Card of the Year.
Call for Entries
For Entries in the 14th Annual Australian Greeting Card Industry Awards 2006: Ensure you have completed the following for each entry: • • • • • • Included 5 samples of the entry Covered up the price, company name, logo, brand Completed the entry form with all the details Indicated the Category number on the back of the card Enclosed the entry fee of $55 including GST per entry Enclosed 10 extra cards per entry
All entries, together with payment and at least 5 samples of the entry, plus 10 extra cards of average value (to give us an incentive to consumers who participate in judging – please bundle these samples to your entries) must be mailed to:

All samples will remain the property of the AGCA and the entrant agrees that they may be used from promotional purposes as the AGCA sees fit. All entries must have: •The entry category number clearly marked on the back of the card. •The company logo/brand name completely concealed •The prices of the card completely concealed or the judges reserve the right to disqualify the entry with no refund.
The extra 10-15 cards are used for the consumer judging. Please keep them bundled separately from the entry cards and include the envelopes. Greeting cards are perhaps one of the few products that have touched nearly every person in the world. No matter what the occasion, greeting cards help to connect people’s lives. In recognition of the importance of this product the Australian Greeting Card Association is now conducting its 14th Annual Industry Awards to foster and recognise excellence in Australian Greeting Card design and production. The awards have been synonymous with excellence and will provide the successful companies with recognition in the market place. These awards are to promote and encourage Australian publishers to design and produce their product locally while at the same time recognising outstanding overseas design and influence on the industry.

For an award to be made, at least four separate entries from at least three different companies must be entered in each category. A group of consumer judges will score each entry on the following criteria: Imagination and Artistry The use of an imaginative idea or concept, either of a constructive nature or in graphic design or both, to create an outstanding greeting card, and the quality of design that provides the best visual appeal. Consumer Appeal The measurement of emotional impact and likelihood of the design being purchased and sent for the purpose intended. Judges will be given real samples of each entry. The entry with the highest score is the winner. There will be no discussion between judges during the competition. The top 4 scoring cards in each category will be finalists and will be notified. The winning score will be kept by the adjudicator until the gala presentation night. The judges decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
All entries for each category must be accompanied by a fee of $55 including GST. Please include 5 samples of that entry and their envelopes for display purposes. For each entry please include 10-15 cards of any design but of equal value for promotional purposes (excluding rude cards). Any entry that does not have these included will not be eligible.

Categories which are / include non-Australian origin cards means overseas designs fully manufactured in Australia. Categories which are / include imported cards, means those designed and manufactured outside Australia. Caption Card category includes cards with specific purpose.

Eastland Shopping Centre will be the venue for the 2006 AGCA Awards. Judging will occur in the week commencing April 24, 2006.
