Autumn term 2009 Newsletter 6 9th October

Last Newsletter this half term This is the last newsletter this term. Thank you to everyone for all of their hard work and support in yet another busy half term. I hope you all have a good holiday and enjoy the break from the normal routine of the school. A reminder that we finish on Wednesday 21st October and return on Wednesday 4th November. School colour teams I was really pleased to see how much the children enjoyed their first team day. The ‘Wizard of Oz’ production was particularly successful and enjoyed by all. Next Friday, 16th October we will be counting the number of team points for each colour. The team with the most points will have a mufti day on Monday 19th October. The winning team will be told on Friday 16th but we will not be sending a note home, we hope the children will be so proud of themselves, they should remember to tell you! But obviously you can check with your child’s class teacher! New Pre-school Room: Thursday 15th October Please come and have a look! A reminder that on Thursday 15th October at the start of the school day (from 8.30am) as well as at the end of the school day (from 3.15pm) the Pre-School room will be open for you to have a look in. Mr Cheetham, our new Chair of Governors will be there as well as myself. If you have any ideas or suggestions for our new School Improvement Plan (SIP) please do not hesitate to let us know when you come to see the building. The children are having a special whole school piece of homework during the next week and there is an information sheet regarding the School Improvement Plan in there as well. At the moment Mrs Edwards is using the new room for her Numeracy teaching and she will move into the current Pre-school room when they occupy their new building. Eco-Council News from Mrs Frost I am currently organising our new team and they will shortly be sending out their information sheet. In the meantime if you have got any printer cartridges to re-cycle please send them into the school office. School Photographs for the Paper/Website Next week we will be sending home the annual sheet for you to fill in regarding photographs and their use. Please take time to read the sheet carefully as it is not written by the school. As a general rule if you have replied ‘no’ to anything we do not include your child/children in photos as we frequently use them for a number of purposes. The list is only updated once a year, please return the forms promptly. Parent Information Meeting: ICT on Monday 30th November 6-7pm Mrs Redwood, our IT coordinator is running an evening meeting concerning esafety. This meeting is part of our school commitment to providing a safer learning environment for children whether they are at home or at school. We would really appreciate it if you could come, please sign up at the school office. We are currently writing an e-safety policy and would appreciate any comments concerning things you would like added in. E-safety concerns using the computer, mobile phones and other modern technologies. Finally……two reminders!  Harvest monetary donations on Monday, please put them on the school playground when you come into school, or in the hall if it is wet! Mrs Wills is drawing a chalk shape for us to put our coins in.  Thanks to the Parent’s who have offered their help next Friday, please come to the main office at 2pm.
