Library Birthday Club Need approval from Library Director, Library Board, Library Foundation & Friends of the Library Board. Overview: The Blair Library Birthday Club is an project to encourage interest in expansion of the library and start people in a mind set of giving to a library building fund. To become part of the Birthday Club, community members may request a Birthday party reception for themselves, family members or friends for a minimum of a $40 donation to the Library Building Fund. Party guests are invited to make a chartable contribution to the building fund in lieu of presents. The party would be hosted by the Friend of the Library and held in the Library meeting room. The Birthday Party includes: Party invitation mailed to a maximum of 20 guests Schedule use of the Library Meeting room for the party (2-hour period maximum, subject to availability, scheduled no more than three months in advance.) Refreshments for a maximum of 50 people (see menu for details) 1 year membership in Friends of the Library Article in local newspaper social column listing guests and amount raise for the Building Fund. (Optional) Room setup and clean up Recognition in the Birthday Club as part of a future Building Fund Campaign. Benefits: This project would benefit the library by collecting donations for the building fund, promote the idea of library expansion in the community, generate exposure to the building fund efforts and would be a good service project for the Friends of the Library. Event Coordinator: Assist in menu selection, perform setup and clean-up tasks, recruit/assign refreshments, mail invitations and thank you notes, record and report guests and donations. Standard Menu: The party contact will make one (or two) selections from a list of party tarts and cakes. There is also a choice of beverages. Cold water will be available at all parties. Tarts & Cakes Lemon Tart Brownie Tart Pecan Tart Apple Tart Cheese Cake Custard Tart Beverages Coffee Apple Juice Orange Juice Milk (skimmed, 1%, or 2%) Golden Punch Hot Tea Iced Tea One of the main ideas behind the tarts & cakes is to keep them very small and simple. They should be small enough to easily be eaten with a small pastry fork off of small glass plates. The refreshment table would be setup with non-disposable service ware to help provide a setting of eloquences and uniqueness. Equipment Needed: Pasty forks, juice glasses, small plates, table cloth, printed napkins, service plates for tarts, juice pitcher, coffee pot, etc. May include decorations such as flowers, guest book, card baskets, and music. Other things to do: Seek approval, finalize event model, develop event planning sheets and timeline, gather equipment, etc.
