A new level of quality brings a new source of revenue.
Whether you are new to the business, already offer poster printing or looking to expand your services, the Grand Sherpa Poster Printing System will deliver added revenue at higher profits. That’s because Agfa’s system delivers the highest quality inkjet printing in its price class. Automated features and printing speed increase productivity. Ease of use and low ink consumption make it easier to maintain and more costeffective to operate. Brilliant, detailed colour will increase sales of advertising displays, celebrity and art posters.

A Complete Solution
Agfa combines the extraordinary printing capabilities of the Grand Sherpa with the Agfa Edition of an Onyx RIP to deliver superior printing performance and system flexibility. Newly formulated AgfaJet inkjet media enhances the quality of the Grand Sherpa’s 1440-dpi resolution and the multi-density ink combinations to deliver attention-getting detailed colour.

A greater variety of output at uncompromising quality.
Head-Turning Colour
The Grand Sherpa represents Agfa’s new generation of piezo-electric inkjet printers. It offers true 1440 x 1440 dpi resolution, the capacity for up to eight multi-density inks and variable dot size. Up to six different drop sizes including a 5 picolitre drop heighten quality at any resolution by enabling fine detail rendering and greater sharpness. The result is colour that can’t be missed. Indoor and outdoor advertising displays will be more effective. Must-have celebrity posters and art reproductions will turn heads and bring added revenue.

Exceptional Speed
The Grand Sherpa can print up to 40 m2 per hour at 360 x 360 dpi in a 2 x CMYK colour configuration. Or it can print up to 12 m2 per hour at 720 x 720 dpi, making it the fastest machine in its class. A built-in hard drive lets you take full advantage of the engine speed. Files can be RIPped to the hard drive buffer and put in queue for printing at a later time. This way RIPping won’t interfere with engine speed

High Performance RIP
Onyx is the leading RIP developer for poster applications. Agfa puts the power of the Onyx RIP in the Agfa Edition (AE), which includes Agfa drivers for the Grand Sherpa. It also includes Agfa profiles for all AgfaJet media on most commercially available printers. Depending on the application, Agfa bundles one of two Onyx RIPs, PosterShop 5.6 or ProductionHouse. With a redesigned user interface, Onyx PosterShop 5.6 AE provides a user-friendly print queue, simplified workflow, job thumbnail and nesting previews, tiling and improved print controls. Agfa also offers Onyx ProductionHouse AE, the only RIP capable of RIPping two jobs at the time and supporting four active printers for simultaneous printing and RIPping. ProductionHouse also includes Step & Repeater for pattern tiling.

Application Flexibility
The Grand Sherpa prints with either pigmentbased inks, which are best for out-door and archival applications and dye-based inks, which offer vibrant colour rendition. In a six-colour configuration, the Grand Sherpa prints CMYK plus light cyan and light magenta (CMYKcm). In an eight-colour configuration the Grand Sherpa prints 2 x CMYK which increases printing speed. Or it can be configured with one set of CMYK pigment inks and one set of dye inks. This way you can switch between dye and pigment inks without having to clean the machine. AgfaJet media lets you print a variety of output—indoor, outdoor, back lit, front lit, vinyl, canvas. The possibilities are endless. With quality you can bank on.

AgfaJet Media
Agfa rounds out its Poster Printing Solution with a wide range of AgfaJet Print Media. You can choose from a variety of media developed and manufactured by Agfa to meet the specific demands of poster printing. Fast drying characteristics, durability and rich colour performance enhance output from the Grand Sherpa. Depending on media type, AgfaJet media can be used with pigment and/or dye-based inks. AgfaJet Universal Instant dry Photograde Paper (UIPP) is based on nano-porous technology: ceramic particles with tiny pores that absorb ink instantly. As a result, the media dries instantly, which is essential for fast, unattended printing. The material can be finished and laminated immediately after printing. Satin or Glossy finish, 185 g/m2. AgfaJet Universal Frontprint Film (UFF) with macro-porous technology for instant drying. Because it is compatible with pigment based inks, the film can remain in light boxes long-term without noticeable fading. AgfaJet Premium Vinyl (PV) with macro-porous technology for instant drying is a self-adhesive water-resistant material that can be used for indoor and outdoor applications. AgfaJet Poster Paper (POP) is a cast-coated water-resistant paper. Glossy finish, 175 g/m2. AgfaJet Universal Photograde Paper, dye (UPPd) is based on a polymer-blend formula. Satin or glossy finish, 165 g/m2 AgfaJet Universal Backlit Film, dye (UBFd) , compatible with piezo-electric and thermal printers, dries faster than other backlit materials. Agfa’s backlit material offers higher colour saturation for more powerful colour display. Fast drying allows easy handling for greater productivity.
