Dear Principal / Club, Please find attached the Nomination Forms for this year’s Southern Sports Partnership – Sports Academy. The Southern Sports Academy is a regional talent identification and development programme focusing on five areas – Racquet Sports (Badminton & Squash), Girls Hockey, Boys Hockey, Netball and Volleyball – within the SELB area. The programme is organised in conjunction with each of the National Governing Bodies of Sport and thanks to funding from Sport Northern Ireland. It requires a year long commitment from athletes and involves the following:    Talent Search: Development Squad: Competitive Festivals: Opportunity for nominated athletes to showcase their talents, during a two hour fun & skill session. Selected athletes will benefit from a 12 week coaching programme in the specified sport; this will include a focus on skill development, nutrition, motivation, psychology and lifestyle management. An opportunity for each squad to put what they have learnt in to practice at Festival Days.

Each nomination form attached details the specific criteria for each sport and allows each school or club to nominate a specific number of pupils. These forms should be returned to the Southern Sports Partnership no later than Friday 17th October 2008. The Talent Search element will take place from mid November to Early December 2008, specific dates and venues (may be subject to change) are detailed below.
