Overview of Trading: RWE Trading GmbH, established in 2000, is one of the leading international energy trading companies. Within the RWE Group, RWE Trading acts as the central hub for all physical and derivative energy wholesale market transactions in electricity, gas, coal, oil as well as environmental products, such as emissions allowances. Furthermore, RWE Trading is active on approximately a dozen international energy exchanges. With these activities and expertise the company contributes to the optimisation of the operations of the asset-owning companies as well as to the management of risk within the RWE Group. With a workforce of around 500 employees, RWE Trading operates trading floors in Essen (Germany), Swindon and London (UK). Overview of Trading area (Back Office, Front office, STMP, Programme Office etc) RWE Trading continues to prosper and as a result this creates a progressive and challenging IS development environment. The RWE Systems Trading UK programme office is responsible for the delivery of the €22m RWE Trading IT development programme. The team of project managers, project co-coordinators and PMO staff provide PM services for the UK and PMO services globally. The parallel PMO function in Essen provides PM services in Essen. The governance is based around the Prince 2 methodology. RWE Systems Trading UK programme office runs both waterfall and agile projects using a suitability filter to assess each project.

Dimensions/Scope of the role: (Purpose of the role) To ensure adherence to agreed project management methodologies and quality procedures To provide effective consultancy advice and influence by building excellent working relationships with all levels of the Management teams. It is desirable for the role holder to have an understanding of the current business and technical strategies, policies and standards of RWE Systems UK. To manage complex and politically sensitive relationships, from Director level throughout an organisation. To work effectively with IS partners and other external contacts, and with other business units through the development of strong relationships. Recommending tactical and or strategic solutions to deliver value to the business. To manage internal and external resources effectively to maximise their contribution to assignments. To achieve business priorities by working with other RWE Systems UK Management and RWE Trading IT Demand in identifying and prioritising projects and programmes with business clients. To manage project and programme budget values potentially exceeding £5m. To promote current best practice and processes throughout the RWE Trading Business units to ensure effective and efficient delivery of IS initiatives. To be solely responsible for managing projects up to a value of £5m from analysis through design and implementation, resolving complex social, commercial and technical problems to deliver to time, cost and quality having first negotiated and agreed the success measures, with responsibility for risk and issue escalation, budget management, team management and motivation and product delivery. The candidate will be expected to:        Manage project/programme teams of staff varying in size to 50+ Relationship management with RWE Trading business units, IS partners and suppliers Manage numerous concurrent projects Take responsibility for personal and technical development. Be flexible in hours worked Be prepared to travel overseas. Work at the main HQ locations of the RWE companies

Work Experience, Knowledge/Qualifications and Skills required: Essential:     Record of successfully influencing and advising senior management Management of projects / programmes circa £1-5m in value Graduate or equivalent capability - relevant professional or business qualification preferred Experience/accreditation of project or programme management methodologies such as Prince2 Experience of at least 3 of the following:      Experience of project management within an Energy Trading organisation Experience of managing projects involving Energy Trading Systems e.g. Deal Capture, Risk Management, Settlements, Confirmations, STPM, Logistics etc. Experience within a Trading environment e.g. Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office Experience of working in the Energy Sector e.g. Power, Gas, Coal, Oil, Carbon etc. Experience of multi-country, multi-company projects. Experience of working in large organisations.

Desirable: Proven experience of managing projects:            With greater than 15 staff on a single project. With more than 2 suppliers. With total financial management responsibility (in-year cost accounting, within major corporate environment) With team dispersal over at least two sites With scale of roll out over at least two sites With a duration in excess of a year Including contract management With annualised budgetary control > 5 man years With estimating and planning costed PBS/WBS > 10 man year Including 3rd parties Information Systems project / programme, systems development or consultancy background; able to demonstrate solid experience; fully accountable for work quality, able to give informed and responsible decisions which are both technically sound and take the needs of organisations fully into account. Record of successfully influencing and advising senior management Evidence of emotional resilience, successfully working in intensive / complex / high profile roles Identification and successful problem solving Risk Management experience including identification and mitigation of risks Significant record of working in problem solving environments across multiple business units
