1. Entries will only be accepted directly from teachers registered with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha.

2. All entries must be made on the enclosed official entry forms, which must be fully completed and signed by the teacher. Entries will only be accepted from teachers en-bloc and not on an individual basis. 3. The dancer’s FULL FIRST NAME and SURNAME must be entered in BLOCK CAPITALS. The choice of Reel or Slip Jig, Jig or Hornpipe, name and tempo of set dances for Championships must also be stated. Unfortunately, no changes on the day can be permitted. 4. The Feis Committee may modify or cancel any arrangements detailed in this syllabus as is deemed necessary, subject to the approval of An Coimisiun le Rincí Gaelacha or it’s representative body. 5. Adjudicators decisions are final. 6. Complaints (written) and accompanied with a £20.00 fee to the Feis Secretary prior to the announcement of a result. The fee will be returned if the complaint is upheld. 7. Competitors must be present when their competition is called and fully obey all directions from Feis Stewards and Officials, or they may lose their right to dance. Everyone in attendance must follow the Code of Conduct published in the programme. 8 All trophies are perpetual challenge trophies and must be returned at the request of the Feis Committee.

Subsidiary Figure Competitions

For the first time we are introducing Preliminary Championships to the All Scotland Championships. These will be held in all competitions from the Under 9 category upwards as long as there are five or more competitors entitled to compete. These Preliminary Championships will be held in conjunction with the Championships and will be decided by the order of merit of dancers after the first two rounds. Dancers entitled to be entered into these Preliminary Championships must indicate accordingly on the official entry form. Special awards will be presented to relevant prizewinners. Preliminary Dancers are also entitled to be considered for the overall Championship. There is no additional fee required as the Championship entry covers both the Open and Preliminary Competitions.

11. All competitors must be in full costume and appropriate footwear when receiving awards, otherwise such awards may be forfeited. 12. Toe Blocks or any other footwork danced “en pointe”, whether stationary or moving, is not permited for those dancers born after 31st December 1997. 13. PRELIMINARY CHAMPIONSHIPS These are included in all Open Championships from Under 9 upward provided that there are 5 or more eligible competitors. To compete in a Preliminary Championship, competitors must not have been placed in a top three position in any Open Championship or first place in a Preliminary Championship within the last 12 months A Preliminary Championship is a competition which has been judged by a panel of three adjudicators (minimum) and which must have included at least one light and one heavy round. The relevant notation must be made on the entry form to indicate that a dancer is entitled to be also entered into the Preliminary Championship. 14. Dear Teachers,

The Championship Committee is delighted to announce that the 2009 All Scotland Championships will take place in the fabulous City Halls and Old Fruitmarket, Candleriggs, Glasgow. This newly refurbished venue is situated in the heart of Glasgow and is surrounded by many outstanding hotels, restaurants and shopping areas. We are introducing for the first time Preliminary Championships from the Under 9 age group upwards. These will be run in conjunction with the open Championships. Please read carefully the rules of eligibility for these competitions. Unfortunately to accommodate the additional competitions, we will have to hold some of the younger solo competitions on the Friday. Please note that competitions on the Friday will start at 9.00am with the Under 7 and Under 8 Championships. Due to uncertainty re entries at this stage it is not possible to provide a more detailed timetable. We do hope you can join us in October. 15. THE DRESS CODE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AN COIMISIUN RULING WILL BE STRICTLY OBSERVED. i.e. for the sake of modesty and in the interests of safety to young people, dancers will not be permitted to walk around the feis scantily dressed. 16. A practise area will be provided. Any dancer causing damage to any floor surfaces outwith this area will be liable for all costs associated in any repairs required. 17. Flash photography or video recording equipment may not be used whilst competitions are in progress. The use of mobile phones and electronic games is also strictly prohibited in competition halls.

The above timetable is only provisional and is based on previous years’ entries. The final timetable will be issued 3 weeks prior to the competitions.
The organisers will try to keep to the above days wherever possible but some Figure and Ceili competition days may have to be changed to facilitate the overall smooth running of the event.

18. The organisers have appointed an official photographer – Feispix – for the All Scotland Championships 2009, who will take photographs of competitors, competitions and presentations. Such photographs may be subsequently used for marketing and promotional purposes of the event including the publication of such photographs on the official website www.mccutcheonschool.co.uk and the website of An Coimisiún www.clrg.ie. 19. The organisers may also appoint other agents during the course of the Championships for special promotional projects and reserves the right to appoint suitably accredited photo-journalists to take photographs on a case by case basis. Should any dancer or dancer’s parent or guardian wish to be excluded from any of these photographs, please contact James or Noreen McCutcheon with relevant details. 20, Other than the photographs taken by the official photographer, authorised agents of the organisers or accredited photo journalists, all photographs of competitors, competitions and presentations may only be taken for personal use. They may not be redistributed, sold, lent or passed on to third parties. They may also not be used for commercial purposes or used in any publication or website without the express written permission of the organisers and the parents or guardians of all dancers included in any particular picture. SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE VENUES.
