Subcommittee Job Descriptions

Families Subcommittee  Responsible for planning family events and communication with families throughout the year.  Events include but are not limited to trips to athletic events, Holiday Celebrations, Hospital Visits  Organizing the Family Room and family activities for the day of Dance Marathon  Communication responsibilities include - Phone calls, thank you cards, birthday cards, and family profiles.  Actively recruit new families to Dance Marathon and make them feel like a part of the UO Dance Marathon family  Work to build a lasting relationship with the Children’s Hospital  Responsible for keeping the committee in touch with the happenings of our families  Keeping us in tune with the real reason Dance Marathon exists THIS IS THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. Recruitment & Morale Subcommittee (a.k.a. Morale Captains)  Actively recruiting dancers  Emphasizing dancer retention  Maintaining morale during the day of Dance Marathon  Organize recruitment events/tables  Maintain committee enthusiasm through the year  Develop creative recruiting methods to reach the Greek Community, Residence Halls, and OffCampus housing  Involved with the dancers throughout the entire year  Set up social events to help build relationships and inspire everyone on the day-of responsible for Morale Captain sub-committee  Coordinate the official “morale” dance  Choose and plan costumes for theme hours  Responsible for keeping up morale for the length of the day Public Relations & Marketing Subcommittee  Responsible for advertising Dance Marathon  Following the UO advertising policy in posting flyers, posters, chalking etc. during recruitment months  Responsible for all mass media contacts and press releases  Constant contact with the UO PR department, Oregon Emerald Daily and other local media to keep them up-to-date on events  Responsible for meeting minutes and keeping an up to date Calendar  Coordinating with the HLC that the office is stocked with supplies  Responsible for promotions, logo, slogans, and all clothing orders throughout the year Sponsorship Subcommittee  Raise enough money to ensure that all dancer donations go directly to The Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Hospital  Responsible for local business sponsorship and national corporate sponsorship  Work closely with area businesses as well as the Portland area  Must be resourceful and continuously seek new sponsors  Must be comfortable with making numerous phone calls and in person visits to potential sponsorship

Responsible for thanking all sponsors of the event with a sponsor thank you video Prefer someone in Eugene for the Summer Responsible for buying all materials for day of activities

Fundraising Subcommittee  Marketing/Raffles AND letter writing  Responsible for planning fundraisers for Dance Marathon throughout the year include but are not limited to Mini Marathons, Car Washes, Athletic Tournaments, BBQ’s, and other fundraising events  Responsible for letter writing campaign to help the dancers solicit donations for Dance Marathon  Individual will be encouraged to develop new and innovative ideas to raise money and a greater awareness of Dance Marathon Entertainment/Operations Subcommittee  Work with EMU Scheduling, HLC Manager, UO Facilities in reserving stages, music, technology devices, and any other equipment necessary for events throughout the year  Responsible for authorizing all events by completing activity authorization forms and getting clearance from the proper authorities  Serve as the direct liaison between the event venue and the Dance Marathon Executive Committee  Assist with recruitment and as needed by other committees prior to the day of Dance Marathon  Responsible for lining up all entertainment including but not limited to: Djs, bands, and performers  Responsible for overseeing overall flow of stage activities, floor games, Djs, speakers, and performances throughout the day of the event  Responsible for assembling the overall schedule for the day Catering Subcommittee  Responsible for coordinating with UO Catering all food service throughout the entire year - including but are not limited to BBQ’s, Family Events, and food for the day of Dance Marathon  Actively seek new catering options and sponsors throughout the year while maintaining strong relationships with existing sponsors in cooperation with the UO Catering department.  Work closely with sponsorship director  Responsible for making multiple phone calls and in person visits to potential food donors  Responsible for purchasing any additional food and condiments for all meals throughout the day  Collect business licenses and riders from local restaurants in accordance with UO catering  Coordinate pick up and delivery of all food items  Access to a vehicle is a plus

All Positions Actively recruit dancers and help maintain retention Develop new and innovative ideas to raise money and a greater awareness of Dance Marathon Creativity and a desire to make each Dance Marathon more successful Work to build a lasting relationship with the Children’s Hospital Never forgetting the real reason Dance Marathon exists -THE KIDS!!!
