JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Director of Council Projects (Contract position) Reporting To: President Direct Reports: None Location: Downtown Toronto Date Posted: 02/20/08 Background Established in 1997, the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada is a not-for-profit association representing member companies that are at the forefront of Interactive marketing -- including Online Publishers, Agencies, Advertisers and Service Associates. IAB Canada’s vision is to be the national voice and de facto thought leader for the Interactive marketing industry. With a focus on Research, Education, Standards and Networking, IAB Canada is committed to establishing and communicating Interactive best practices to help marketers optimize their Interactive media investments. Overview IAB Canada is seeking an experienced Interactive professional to support the President, contracted Staff and the various volunteer Councils and Committees within the organization. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping grow the industry; have a proven track record of being able to multi-task and manage a variety projects related to Interactive Marketing and Online Advertising; and, will also be ready to roll up their sleeves and take the lead position in developing and implementing various programs. The successful candidate will be naturally proactive, and possess superior organizational and people skills. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: As IAB Canada Director of Council Projects you will: Play a supporting role to the President, keeping projects under other Staff, Councils and Committees, moving forward, toward fulfillment of agreed-upon goals. Roll up sleeves and take the lead, project management, sales, development, organizational or support role on various Council, Comte. or assigned projects required (for e.g. development and management of Agency Council Job Fair, redesign of IAB Website) Act as key point of contact in person, on the phone and by email for IAB, when President is away from office. Ability to multi-task and handle fast-paced, demanding initiatives. Ability to independently drive and manage a task, but ask appropriate questions where needed Ability to quickly learn and apply new ideas. Knowledge of what it means to account for Client, Product and People needs in the execution of a project. Client-facing experience with ability to effectively manage expectations is a plus. Desire to seek creative solutions. Proven organizational, time-management skills with a strong eye for details. Ability to develop and recommend project management procedures, systems or resources that will ensure smooth project implementation. Professional, clear, confident communication abilities (verbal, written) to all levels of Client, as well as internal and external organizations. Superior Knowledge of: (at entry) o Role and mandate of IAB (ideally, you will have worked on an IAB Canada Council or Comte. already). o Interactive Advertising and Marketing practices, from Publisher, Agency or Advertiser perspective. o Internet applications, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) o Commitment to exemplary customer satisfaction skills -- in person, over the telephone and via email. o Basic budgeting techniques. o Basic time-management skills. o Basic business correspondence formatting. o Basic mathematical computations, accounting and record keeping. EXPERIENCE 3-5 years Interactive Marketing and Advertising experience. Project Mgmt. Certificate is a plus Bilingual is a plus Undergraduate university degree preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and use standard office equipment, including a computer, fax, printer, scanner. Ability to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the City. Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone (ability to speak French is an asset). COMPENSATION Commensurate with experience
