									                                CALL FOR PAPERS
“State-of-the-Art Intelligent Systems in RoboCup
Soccer” Special Issue
in Journal of Advanced Computational Intelligence and
Intelligent Informatics (JACIII), Vol.14 No.1 (Jan. 20, 2010)
Guest Editor:
Dr. Tomoharu Nakashima (Osaka Prefecture University, Japan)

In the 10 years since the first RoboCup competition was held in Nagoya, Japan in 1997,
remarkable advances have been made in robotics technologies. Today’s robot agents play soccer
elegantly ― sometimes even better than human players.
Such progress cannot come from hardware development alone, and intelligent software techniques
play a major role in making robot agents human-like. This special issue brings together researchers
who have inspired the software aspects of RoboCup soccer. Topics of interests in the special issue
include but are not limited to:

    Learning systems
    Multi-agent systems,
Machine learning (Decision trees, rule-based systems, etc.),
Computational intelligence (Neural networks, Evolutionary computation, Fuzzy systems, etc.)
    Reinforcement learning,
    Statistical learning theory,
    Human-machine interface, and
    Development tool of autonomous agents.

One strong restriction in contributing to the special issue is that your state-of-the-art intelligent
systems should be applied to the RoboCup Soccer domain, regardless of the league. Papers
from both real robot leagues (humanoid, middle-size, small-size, and standard platform leagues)
and simulation leagues (2D, 3D, and mixed-reality leagues) are most welcome.
