Householders are asked to be on the lookout for underweight hedgehogs who may be at risk during the autumn. The "autumn juveniles" are not big enough to survive hibernation, according to the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. And the group is urging people in the Lothians to check their gardens for the creatures – the result of litters born late in the season – and to feed them.
