Due to component obsolescence, a new flash loader is being installed on several of the resource modules in the Spectrum Peripheral product line. The new releases of resource modules require the latest release of the Spectrum loads in order to load and initialize properly. The previous releases of the loads are incompatiable with the new flash and will fail when the resource module tries to restart the software and transfer a compressed copy of the load to the new flash loader, generating the following failure message: Load: Command failed. Error attempting RESTART the new load. The following is a list of the impacted resource modules and their associated loads: NTLX86AA Release 5 or higher - ECAN Resoruce Module COH00##/COH##xx NTLX86VA Release 3 or higher - WIRELESS ECAN COH00##/COH##xx NTLX65BA Release 10 or higher - DSP Resource Module NTLX71AA Release 16 or higher - OC-3 Resource Module OC3##xx/OC4##xx NTLX99BA Release 27 or higher - STM-1 Resource Module - DSP##xx - STM##xx Analysis: Due to component obsolescence, a new flash loader is being installed on several of the resource modules in the Spectrum Peripheral product line. The new releases of resource modules require the latest release of the Spectrum loads in order to load and initialize properly. Recommendations: Perform the required actions section of this alert. Required Actions: 1) Determine if any NTLX86AA/VAs, NTLX65BAs, NTLX71AAs, or NTLX99BAs are being installed on site. 2) If not, no further action is required. If any of these Resource Modules are being installed, proceed with next step. 3) Locate each of the resource modules being installed and check the CLEI label on the faceplate for the release. 4) If any of the resource modules are of the releases indicated below, proceed to next step. NTLX86AA Release 5 or higher - ECAN NTLX86VA Release 3 or higher - WIRELESS ECAN NTLX65BA Release 10 or higher - DSP NTLX71AA Release 16 or higher - OC-3 NTLX99BA Release 27 or higher - SPM STM-1 If none of the resource modules are of the releases indicated, no further action is required. 5) At a map terminal, enter table PMLOADS and dump a hardcopy of the table. >RECORD START ONTO (printer_device) >TABLE PMLOADS >FORMAT PACK; LIS ALL Example Response: LOADNAME ACTFILE ACTVOL BKPFILE BKPVOL UPDACT --------------------------------------------DSP21BN DSP21BN_010039 F02LPMLD DSP21BN_010039 F02LPMLD N OC321BN OC321BN_010039 F02LPMLD OC321BN_010039 F02LPMLD N >QUIT ALL >RECORD STOP ONTO (printer_device) 6) Locate the load file name(s) for the resource modules found earlier. 7) Compare the file name(s) to the file names for loadset(s) listed below: SPM ***************************************************************** NCL/MNCL Order Code: SPM00117/SPM0M117 SPM00190/SPM0M190 Loadset: SP17.0.8C SP17.1.5C Load File Names: NTLX86AA/VA COH0017_010053 COH0071_010035 NTLX65BA DSP17BZ_010051A1 DSP71BA_010026A4 NTLX71AA OC317BU_010046A1 OC371AZ_010025A1 SPM (Cont'd) ***************************************************************** NCL/MNCL Order Code: SPM00192/SPM0M192 SPM00210/SPM0M210 Loadset: SP17.2.3C SP21.0.0C Load File Names : NTLX86AA/VA COH0071_010035 COH21BO_010040 NTLX65BA DSP71BA_010026A4 DSP21BN_010039A1 NTLX71AA OC371AZ_010025A1 OC321BN_010039A1 MG4K ***************************************************************** NCL/MNCL Order Code: MG4D0006/MG4DM006 MG4D0080/MG4DM080 Loadset: SN06.0.2C SN08.0.1C Load File Names: NTLX86AA/VA COH0019_010042 COH21BO_010040 NTLX65BA DSP19BN_010039A1 DSP21BN_010039A1 NTLX71AA OC419BN_010039A1 OC421BO_010040A1 DPT SPM ***************************************************************** NCL/MNCL order Code: DPTS0006 DPTS0080 Loadset: SN06.0.2B SN08.0.0B Load File Names: NTLX86AA/VA COH0019_010042 COH21BO_010040 NTLX65BA DSP19BN_010039A1 DSP21BN_010039A1 International SPM ***************************************** NCL/MNCL Order Code: SPMW0192/SPMWM192 Loadset: ISP17.2.1C Load File Names: NTLX86AA/VA COH0071_010035 NTLX65BA DSP71BA_010026A4 NTLX99BA STM71DA_010078A1 8) If the load file names match with the ones listed, no further action is required. If any of the load file names do not match, proceed to next step. 9) Order the appropriate loadsets for the SPM peripherals being worked on, either through Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) or on DAT tape. 10) Once new loads arrive on site, copy to disk. 11) Add or update tuples in table PMLOADS for the new load file names. Warning: Prior to updating the tuple for the Coherent ECAN load (COH00##), advise the customer that all inservice NTLX86AA/VAs will go ISTB due to load file mismatch (not service impacting) and will need to be reloaded to clear the alarms. 12) Add tuple(s) to table SPMLDVAL for each of the new loadset(s). 13) Continue with the commissioning of the new Spectrum Peripheral/Resource Module(s) as required. If you have any questions or concerns, contact GTAC or next level of support, for assistance.
