Matt Fuks, a 1989 SDSU graduate with a B.S. in History and Political Science, was named President & CEO of the South Dakota State University Alumni Association in September 2007. He's delighted to be back on campus in Brookings and has enjoyed his first year in this role. Matt has never become disconnected from the activities at SDSU and enjoys meeting alumni from all across the state and country. "This is a tremendously exciting time at SDSU and as the President & CEO of the Alumni Association, I get to share that excitement with our alumni," Fuks said. "I'm glad to be on board...there is no better time to be a Jackrabbit!" His wife, Kari, is originally from San Diego but is a Midwesterner at heart. They have two children, Jeffrey and Madison. Matt and Kari have previously hosted the Alaska & Inside Passage Tour and invite SDSU Alumni on this exciting cruise to Hawaii.

Day 1: Fly to honolulu
Upon arrival in Honolulu, we travel to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The hotel has several restaurants, a shopping arcade and two outdoor swimming pools. Other restaurants, stores and the world-famous Waikiki Beach are a pleasant stroll away. enjoy optional activities or simply experience the benefits of Freestyle Cruising. Day 5: Maui at leisure

Day 2:Pearl harBor & honolulu tour

After an included breakfast, we visit Pearl Harbor to view exhibits and a fascinating documentary film about the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. A U.S. Navy launch takes us to the USS Arizona Memorial, which spans the sunken battleship. Later, we tour Oahu and the capital city, Honolulu. View the distinctive volcano-shaped Hawaii State Capitol and the Iolani Palace. The afternoon is available for additional sightseeing or lying on the beach. B

The day is yours to experience the wonders of Maui. Visit Lahaina Town, the Maui Ocean Center or Maui Tropical Plantation. Golf pros aboard ship are available throughout the cruise with helpful tips and advice. Your Tour Director offers suggestions and will assist with arrangements. B,L,D

Day 3: PriDe oF aMerica
USS Arizona Memorial

Enjoy this morning at your leisure before we depart our hotel early this afternoon. We board Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America for a seven night cruise. Enjoy the benefits of Freestyle Cruising while aboard ship, including flexible dining options. D

Today we arrive in the port of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, the largest of all the Hawaiian Islands. We enjoy an included, private shore excursion to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanic craters, steaming pits and cave-like lava tubes surround us as we take in the unique beauty of the park’s everchanging landscape. Later the Pride of America cruises south to sail past Mount Kilauea, the most active volcano in the Hawaiian Islands before continuing to Kona on the other side of the Big Island of Hawaii. B,L,D
