TEOFILO HAMUI President and Chief Executive Officer
Teofilo Hamui is the president and chief executive officer of Costa Maya, Mexico’s fastest growing cruise port and the Caribbean’s first port designed exclusively for the cruise ship industry. Initially, Mr. Hamui served as vice president of marketing since Costa Maya’s inception in 2001. In 2004, Mr. Hamui replaced the port’s founder, Isaac Hamui, as Costa Maya’s president. Over the past five years, Teofilo Hamui has guided Costa Maya to become the catalyst for development in the region and has assisted in successfully attracting all of the major cruise ship operators to its shores including: Carnival, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Sun Cruises, P&O Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Windstar Cruises, Seabourn, Cunard and MSC Cruises. Earlier this year, under Teofilo Hamui’s leadership, Costa Maya celebrated record growth with the arrival of its two-millionth passenger. Mr. Hamui also has experience in business affairs, civil engineering and construction, which he utilized to design and develop Plaza las Fuentes, a new retail center, which opened in August 2005 in nearby Majahual that includes shops and restaurants. Born in Mexico City, Mr. Hamui attended the Eaton School in Mexico City and is a member of Centro Empresarial de Mexico, Chamber of Commerce of Chetumal, and Camera Mexicana de la Indsutria de la Construccion. Mr. Hamui currently resides in Cancun, Mexico. ###
