Academic Achievements
     

Currently ranked 6th amongst 60 students in the department and in top-15 among 600 students in the institute. Secured a grade of AP (awarded for outstanding performance in Institute Core Course) in two courses. Ranked All India 5 th amongst about 700,000 students, in the All India Engg. Entrance Examination, 2005. Ranked All India 25 th amongst about 200,000 students, in the Joint Entrance Examination held by all IITs in 2005. Was ranked 3rd in Regional Maths Olympiad, Andhra Pradesh, 2003. Awarded Prathibha Scholarship by our State Government for two years starting from 2003.

Projects Undertaken


Online Movie Ticket Booking System (Ongoing) Guide : Prof. Umesh Bellur (CSE, IIT Bombay) Description : Standard MVC based web-application with postgreSQL database at backend. Movie spectators can get the details of the current running movies in the city, registered users can choose and buy tickets for movie shows at different theatres through a dummy bank. Project team consists of four members. JDC++ (Spring 2007) Guide : Prof. S.Sudarshan (CSE, IIT Bombay) Description : This is a peer-to-peer file transfering client developed on lines of DC++. A group of clients can share files after registering in a hub. Project consists of two packages- one for Client(installed at client's workstation), the other for Hub(installed at hub's workstation). Used postgreSQL(at the backend of Hub), JDBC, Swing toolkit(for GUIs), XML parsers. Data Compression(Spring 2006) Guide : Prof. Amitabha Sanyal (CSE, IIT Bombay) Description : Two parts – Image Compression based on jpeg compression algorithm.





Text Compression using LZ78 algorithm with Huffman encoding of alphabet. Studied a good amount of literature on compression algorithms and information theory. Coded in Scheme(a dialect of Lisp).


Sorting through Comparator Networks(Spring 2006) Guide: Prof. V.M. Gadre (Electrical Department,IIT Bombay) Description: The project is about designing and implementing an electrical circuit for sorting input dc voltages using comparators as building blocks. Comparators are implemented using normal diodes and resistors. The algorithm used for sorting is MergeSort. Practical Timing Analysis(Summer 2007) Guide : Shyamali Mukherjee(CSRE,IIT Bombay) Description : Did actual timing analysis and comparison of three different algorithms for computing the cross-covariance of(amount of matching between) two binary images. Read the paper on which these algorithms were described. The relative performance of the algorithms varies with image size. The best algorithm for each image size was reported. Modified C programs for the algorithms to make them efficient. Term Project in Algorithms(Autumn 2006) Guide : Prof. G. Siva Kumar (CSE, IIT Bombay) Description : This assignment consists of two parts: a) Analysis and coding of efficient algorithms for three representative problems from international programming contests like ACM-ICPC Finals. b)Learning and coding basics of Term Rewriting. Table tennis Automation(Spring 2007) Guide : Prof. Jayantha Mukharjee (Electrical Department, IIT Bombay) Description : The project is about designing and implementing an electrical circuit for automation of two player table tennis using basic digital logic units. Chemical Equation Solver(Autumn 2005) Guide : Prof. Sharat Chandran (CSE, IIT Bombay) Description : Project consists of parsing and balncing an unbalanced chemical equation using a linear diophantine equation solver. Coded in C++. Done as part of a beginners course in computer science.








