Campfire Chatter - Bill Carle First and foremost. For those of you who were not aware Bill Jones’ brother Tommy passed away recently as a result of a boating accident. Please join with us in keeping the entire Jones Family in your prayers…… It appears that more and more members are showing up on Thursday to enjoy the monthly gatherings. Thanks to Bill and Jean Crawford we had two new prospective members, Frank and Lola Jett join us. Not only did they win a hand or two at the card table but also won a free two day pass to Crystal River camp ground in a lottery drawing. I hope they enjoyed our company as much as we did theirs. A major occurrence was the celebration of the Pres and First Lady, Pete and Sylvia Fisher on the 50th Wedding Anniversary. Obviously following the wonderful example of The Clack’s who celebrated their 52nd. Besides a special cake, a poem provided by the LeighManuel’s and the extra caring and fast work by Madeline Corder the Fisher’s have a picture album and one special photo in a lovely frame to remember the occasion. At our last campout stuffed eggs seemed to be the food of the day well this weekend it was ice cream. Sandi Carle provided a gracious plenty with the meal, Tommy and Martha Duane made a bucket, primarily spun by Frank Jett and gobbled down by all including Mo Vaughn who had three helpings, but who was counting. All that ice cream is just what we needed to add to the $4 breakfasts provided by the campground on Saturday and the freebee breakfast for all Dad’s on Sunday. Due to some changes that had to be made as a result of last minute space the Pres conducted the normal monthly meeting directly after the chat and chew. It was fast and smart thinking on the part of the Pres and the format seemed to be commended by all. Maybe this could be something we might see more of in the future. We all have funny things that happen with our rigs as time goes by but watching Big Jim Veitch mimic his cat as the feline tried to determine what the cascading water coming down the inside floor of their coach was….would have taken first prize in the Animal Planet Series. Lest anyone say we have no integrity I would personally like to thank Randy Vaughn for the following. On our recent two week vacation together Randy borrowed a jug of rum with the promise to return same upon our arrival home. As promised, true to his word he did return the bottle, albeit, EMPTY…… The last two items have intentionally been left for last. We would like to thank the one gracious female member who, after being complimented on her certain attire, literally removed same, right then, right there, and gave it to the complimenting female….. And finally, we all have had nicknames for those close and dear to us. One that was shared this weekend was “NOASSATALL”….. Isn’t love grand?
Prez Sez: : What a great weekend for the Prez. and his lovely wife.
It was a great honor for us to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our extended family. A special thanks to Madeline for the pictures and the cute frame and for getting the cake. It is hard to beat a weekend with home made ice cream, a fine swimming pool, breakfast two mornings and an ice cream stand on the corner. Even the poem from our good friend Dave was an honor. The special part of the weekend was the Crawfords bringing us our newest prospective members , Frank and Lola Jett. We hope they enjoyed our club as much as we enjoyed getting to know them. I think they will bring us good luck as Lola won at cards and a free weekend at Crystal River. I save the sad part for last, as I learned that Joyce and Nathan are building a house in Ga. and will be leaving us in the near future with a promise to stay in the club and visit often. I have never met more warm and caring folks in my life. Good Luck and God speed. P.S. Never let it be said that Sylvia will not give you the shirt off here back or the Shorts off her back side. FROM THE EDITORS DESK: Note for High Banks Marina: The fee charged is for 2 people in a rig, $5.00 is added for each additional person. You can pay with cash or credit card only no checks and no 50 amp service. It was reported to the editor that a certain couple who just picked up their new rig , thought that getting the rig the same day as the camp-out precluded them from attending. We, the Freewheelers wanted them to know……NOT… Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers were also present at the campout this weekend in the form of Tommy & Martha Duane. They won a dance contest and received….You guessed it Ice Cream…. Last but not least I saved the best for last…My personal Thanks to Madeline Corder who outdid herself in making this weekend special. With us just getting back from vacation 4 days before I would not have been able to give Pete and Sylvia such a grand celebration, it was truly “Golden”. My Thanks also to Peg Veitch who fielded my phone calls for me while we were gone. It is an honor to be part of a club with so many helping hands.
