Be sensitive to a teacher’s hesitancy. Give plenty of notice – AT LEAST 3 weeks Provide the teacher with: - your resume - names of colleges & deadline dates - any college Teacher Recommendation forms - stamped & addressed envelopes ( with no return address) • It is the responsibility of the student to follow up with the teacher to make sure deadlines are met. • Write a thank you note to the teacher. Letters of Recommendation Outside Use Caution • Outside letters should provide important information about you that the application does not address. • If your file is filled with “extra” letters, the admissions committee might never read the important letter from your teacher who saw your great potential and academic growth. Scholarships National and college-specific scholarships: Check with each college’s Office of Financial Aid for college-specific opportunities. All national scholarships will be posted on Naviance. Applications to apply for local scholarships become available in the SPRING.
