and OCDF Volunteer China Provincial-Orphanage Volunteer Programs
These special volunteer programs are designed to meld homeland travel with volunteering to enable adoptees to return to their own orphanage and volunteer there with their family for 2-3 days (unless otherwise indicated) while traveling in China and sightseeing the remainder of the trip. Locations have been checked for their ability to host volunteers and suitability for children to volunteer with their parents. Each site will vary and each experience will vary. We hope this will offer families some unique opportunities while still enjoying the high-quality programs that OCDF regularly offers our travelers. Please note that only families with children from the specified SWI/CWIs and their immediate family/guests can volunteer at their child’s orphanage – you can’t volunteer at an orphanage other than your child’s at this time. Program Length: 15-days Time of Year: Summer Break or customized groups set their own dates Target: Ages 10 and up (individual and family enrollment) (We wish to have a minimum of 4-5 persons in a group so when individuals enroll we will let you know if the group is large enough for the program to be a “go” for that date. If you can let others know so that the group size is 5 and up, we would appreciate that help!) Location: Beijing Housing: Super 8 Hotel – Dongzhimen in Beijing (Center City), other cities as specified on itinerary Cost per person: $2,400.00 USD (plus provincial orphanage visit fee per family – based on provincial regulations) Cost Includes: Airport transfers, bilingual OCDF staff and tour guides, local transportation, accommodations doubletriple occupancy, meals are per itinerary, domestic travel insurance, sightseeing entrance fees, evening entertainment as per itinerary, gratuities, 2 bottles of water daily, Volunteer China t-shirt, memory items, and a tax deductible donation to the volunteer sites in the form of supplies needed for volunteering. Not Included: International airfare (contact marta.lacour@travnet.net for ticket options), passport and Chinese visa processing (www.mychinadocs.com), travel medical insurance and trip cancellation insurance (optional), inoculations (all participants must be caught up on their childhood vaccinations and Hepatitis A & B, tenus), meals not included in itinerary (see meals “on your own”), laundry, snacks, telephone, internet fees, and personal gifts. Note: Approx. 80% of program costs (everything except sightseeing) are tax deductible including 100% of your international airfare!
