North Division Championship Meet Information
Saturday, February 2nd & Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 Tomahawk Swimming Pool Director, Marion Kohl 1048 E. Kings Road 715-453-2126, ext. 220 Tomahawk, WI 54487 kohlm@tomahawk.k12.wi.us 6 lane, 25 yard pool; backstroke flags, starting blocks at a depth of 11 feet in all lanes; Colorado electronic timing system with horn start and strobe light; touch pads at deep end of the pool, back-up timing, two manual timers per lane for all events 50 yards+, 3 timers per lane for 25 yard events. Swimmers must be registered members of a CWSC North Division team and have competed as a member of that club on at least two separate dates in any scheduled meet of three or more CWSC member teams during the current season. The current season is defined as September 1, 2007 through the CWSC Championship Meet. No swimmer may compete while a member of a high school or college team.

Age Groups: Boys & Girls: 8 & Under, 9-10 and 10 and under, 11-12 and 12 and under, 13-14 and 14 and under, 15-19 and Open; minimum age for “open” events is 11 years old. This meet will follow USA Swimming/CWSC rules. See included schedule. Saturday, Feb. 2nd: 10:45 a.m.; Sunday, Feb. 3rd: 9:00 a.m. At least one coach from each team must be present at the coaches meeting.

Start Times: Saturday, Feb 2nd: 11:15 a.m.; Sunday, Feb 3rd: 9:30 a.m. Divisional Championship Ribbons will be awarded for 1 st-12th place; Heat winner ribbons for each heat; Team plaques: 1st place (9”x12”), 2 nd & 3rd place (7”x9”). Individual Events: 16-13-12-11-10-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 Relay Events: 32-26-24-22-20-18-14-10-8-6-4-2

Entry Limits: There is no limit on the number of swimmers a club may enter. Swimmers are allowed to enter a maximum of five (5) events, four of which may be individual events.

Entries:

Meet entries are to be submitted for Hy-Tek Meet Manager software. An events file for this meet is included

in attachments with this e-mail. Entries are to be submitted via e-mail. Entries are to be sent to: Marion Kohl kohlm@tomahawk.k12.wi.us E-mail entries are due by 12:00 Midnight on Tuesday, January, 29 th, 2008. Each team will be sent a proof copy of their entries via e-mail on Wednesday, January 30 th, 2008. (E-mail address/contact should be included with entries). Please verify your team’s entries to make sure all swimmers are correctly entered in the meet. Make sure to verify relay entries as well. Each team is responsible for responding with corrections/changes by 12:00 Noon on Thursday, January 31 st, 2008. After Thursday, January 31 st, 2008 by 12:00 Noon, scratches only will be allowed. NO CHANGES OR ADDITIONS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER THURSDAY, JANUARY 31 ST, 2008 AT 12:00 NOON!

Each team’s waiver form needs to be mailed to: Attn. Marion Kohl Tomahawk Swimming Pool 1048 E. Kings Road Tomahawk, WI 54487 The waiver form can also be faxed to: Tomahawk Swimming Pool, Attn. Marion Kohl 715-453-5903 Meet results will be posted on the trophy case windows outside the pool area during the course of the meet. Please note that results posted during the meet are NOT official. The official meet results will be distributed at the end of each day. Coaches will be provided a full set of official results and team awards at the end of the meet on Sunday. $3.00 per day. Heat sheets will be sold outside the pool office in the commons area. Each day’s heat sheet will include a $1.00 drawing ticket for our basket fundraiser on that day. Additional basket fundraiser tickets are available for sale for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. A different set of 6-8 baskets will be drawn for on each day of the meet. There will be spectator seating on both the North and West sides of the pool area. We ask that spectators stay in these areas. The East and South sides of the pool area need to be kept clear for swimmer traffic. Staging of swimmers will take place in the hall between the Elementary School Fieldhouse and the pool – swimmers will be guided through the boys team locker room and out onto the pool deck behind the blocks. Numbers being staged will be posted in the rest area, cafeteria and commons area. All swimmers are responsible for getting to the staging area on time for their event. ALL SWIMMERS MUST REMAIN IN THE STAGING LINE AFTER THEY HAVE GOTTEN THEIR LAND CARDS NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Rest Areas: Swimmer rest areas will be assigned in the High School Halls and the front 1/3 of the Elementary School Fieldhouse. Signs will be posted to designate each team’s

rest area. All teams are responsible for the conduct of their swimmers and will provide proper supervision at all times. Existing equipment in the rest area is restricted from use. Any swimmer using any equipment or behaving in a manner which is disruptive, disorderly or deemed to be un-sportsmanlike will be scratched from the meet. **ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN THE ELEMETARY SCHOOL FIELDHOUSE REST AREA! **EACH TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THEIR ASSIGNED AREA CLEAN. Rest areas are to be for just that purpose – resting. At no time will running, throwing objects, or general horseplay be allowed. Balls and similar objects which are thrown or kicked; and any type of radio-controlled vehicle or toy will be subject to confiscation by the rest-area supervision workers while the meet is in progress. Confiscated items will be placed in the pool office and will be returned to its’ owner at the end of the meet. Such behavior poses a safety hazard to both swimmers and spectators. Swimmers and/or spectators, who feel that they must absolutely expend energy when not swimming, may do so outside the pool and school area. However, the Tomahawk Swim Club, City of Tomahawk, and the Tomahawk School District do not assume responsibility or liability for the safety of any person who chooses to leave the pool area during the course of the meet.

Food A wide selection of hot and cold food and beverages will be available. Both breakfast and Concessions: lunch items will be sold. We ask that food items be kept in the cafeteria. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN THE ELEMETARY SCHOOL FIELDHOUSE REST AREA! NO GLASS is allowed on the pool deck.

Swim Merchandise: A concession stand will be set up in the commons area outside the pool in which various swim merchandise such as practice suits, caps, goggles, t-shirts etc. will be offered for sale. The Tomahawk Swim Club will be running this booth on consignment as a fundraiser for our club. Smoking: Smoking IS NOT PERMITTED anywhere in the Tomahawk School Complex, or on school grounds. Locker Rooms: Boy’s lockers will be in both of the front pool locker rooms on either side of the pool office; all of the girls will be in the team and PE locker rooms on the side of the pool – there will be signs posted as to where the locker rooms are. Swimmers are advised to keep all valuables at home. Lost or Stolen Articles: Please have swimmers leave valuables at home and bring their own padlocks for the lockers. Neither the Tomahawk Swim Club, Inc. nor the Tomahawk School District is responsible for lost or stolen articles. After going approximately 1 mile into Tomahawk, turn right on Bradley Farm Rd. (Dentist – Hussong is on the corner) Go one block on Bradley Farm Rd. – stop at the stop sign. Turn right onto School Road. Follow School Road to the Tomahawk School Complex – follow the road left and go around to the front of the complex to the elementary school parking lot. Pool entrance is door #6. From Wisconsin Avenue (Main Street) in Tomahawk: From Wisconsin Avenue, turn onto 4 th St. and go one block to the 4-way stop. You will need to turn right on Somo Avenue (aka Hwy D & 86). Go 6 blocks (just past the Harley Davidson Plant) and turn left onto School Road. Follow School Road to the Tomahawk School Complex – follow the road left and go around to the front of the complex to the elementary school parking lot. Pool entrance is door #6. Those attending the swim meet should note the following: PLEASE BE WARNED – park only in the parking lot areas near the Tomahawk School Complex – if you park along the driveways near the school (signs are posted), your car may be ticketed by the Tomahawk Police.

COACHES, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: There will be no separate sprint sessions held either day. Sprints can be done during your designated warm-up time. Per CWSC rules, we will be holding a brief coaches meeting following the completion of each session. These meetings are being held for the purpose of reviewing scratches for those swimmers that are unable to advance to the Conference Championship Meet.
