Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers are the leading restaurant and sightseeing cruise operators on the River Thames in London. Currently with a fleet of two dedicated restaurant vessels, three unique all-glass sightseeing vessels and a further three traditional vessels for sightseeing and party cruises, Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers offer a number of unmissable London experiences.

Company Background Catamaran Cruisers has been operating on the Thames since 1967 when it was formed from a number of smaller operators. This unrivalled wealth of knowledge and experience is coupled with a £1.2 million investment into the Delta, a modern trimaran vessel with transparent umbrella-roof that reacts to the weather, alongside two other Hydrospace vessels. Bateaux London was added to the Catamaran Cruisers brand in 1992 to create an unrivalled portfolio of sightseeing, dining and private event cruises.

Industry Firsts The Catamaran Cruisers sightseeing fleet is the first cruise operator on the Thames to offer commentary in nine different languages, including Russian and Mandarin Chinese (introduced in Winter 2005) in addition to English, French, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Plus, restaurant cruise brand Bateaux London is the only operator with full menus available in English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Russian. Lunch cruises now also include English commentary, taking in major points of interest on the return leg of the journey.

Catamaran Cruisers and Bateaux London are also the only cruise operators on the river with all-glass hydrospace vessels as part of their fleet, offering the best possible views of London from any seat. Bateaux London was the pioneer of Sunday Lunch Jazz cruises on the river Thames and offers the most extensive range of restaurant cruises currently available in London.

Training and Expertise As part of its commitment to expertise on the River Thames, Catamaran Cruisers offers an Apprentice Programme that provides funding and the necessary training and experience for Watermen (carrying people on the water) and Lightermen (carrying cargo on the water). The Apprentice Programme is a five year training scheme fully funded by Catamaran Cruisers Ltd.

Leading the way in river dining experiences, all Bateaux London restaurant cruise vessels have a galley (kitchen) onboard where food is prepared. The onboard catering team crosstrain with the Sodexho Prestige (Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers are part of the Sodexho Prestige division in the UK) signature chef Anton Edelmann, formerly the executive chef at leading London hotel The Savoy.

Charity and the Environment The team at Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers fundraises for a dedicated charity as part of their activity within the Sodexho Prestige Group in the UK. A charity is nominated each year to receive support from across the Group. In 2006 Bateaux London is supporting the Stop Hunger campaign, recently launched by Sodexho UK and Ireland. The campaign aims to combat poor nutrition in local communities. In addition, Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers staff also support other charities such as the Just A Drop Foundation, a global travel and tourism charity providing clean water around the world.

The restaurant cruise vessels are pioneering a waste recycling scheme on the Thames and are currently part of a pilot operation carried out by Tidy Thames refuse services. This initiative is supported by Thames21, an environmental charity working with communities to create clean, safe and sustainable waterside environments on London's rivers, tributaries and canals.

Cruises Available Cruises available range from Hop-On-Hop-Off trips transporting passengers between top London attractions across the city and Circular Sightseeing cruises; to Sunday Lunch Jazz Cruises and Five-Course Elite Dinner Cruises. Prices for a Catamaran Cruisers sightseeing trip start from £3 pp for a single journey and a Classic Two-Course Lunch Cruise is available from £19.50 pp with Bateaux London.

Both Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers vessels are available for private charter as transfers between venues in London, parties, exhibitions and special events. These can take place from any pier between Putney and Greenwich (subject to prior agreement). Popular events onboard include wedding receptions, birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions, product launches, corporate entertainment and business receptions.

Markets Both Bateaux London and Catamaran Cruisers cater to an international audience, marked by the extensive range of multi-lingual sightseeing cruise commentary and menu options available. As well as consumers, both brands also have significant activity in the corporate and travel trade markets, both at home and abroad. From private charters for groups, to private dining options for business entertainment, both brands offer a flexible approach to tailoring individual events.

All cruises are available for tour operators to package as part of London itineraries, as add-on sales for ticket specialists and travel agents, for corporate event bookers to charter, and for consumers to purchase direct from the piers and by the reservations team on 020 7987 1185 for Catamaran Cruisers and 020 7925 2215 for Bateaux London.
