Hawaii/Mexico – a better bargain than last year
Blame the media if you’re feeling that travel to your favorite sun destinations has skyrocketed beyond your budget. In reality, if you plan your vacation, honeymoon, or corporate incentive program right, you can often vacation in Hawaii or Mexico (and several other popular sun destinations) for less than you could at the same time last year. Airfares are likely to increase this fall, so now is a good time to lock in fall and winter prices. Increased oil prices translate into high jet fuel prices just like they do when filling your gas tank. Round trip airfares to Hawaii and Mexico have increased from several U.S. markets, but there are still some bargains in some markets, particularly Seattle. But the media rarely tells you that increased airfares have largely been offset by some terrific hotel values, often making your total travel costs less than a year ago for the same itinerary. If you’re staying in a timeshare you may be stuck with higher travel costs, but if you book accommodations through Journeys To Paradise we might save you enough to overcome all or a large part of any higher airfare. The best values are in higher end accommodations, but there are some great values in all price ranges. Here are a few examples:  Regular rates at Hawaii’s popular 4-star Waikoloa Beach Marriott start at about $320 with tax. Book 4 nights through Journeys to Paradise for $1054 with tax in Garden/Mountain view. You get each 4th night free with a guaranteed upgrade to Pool/Terrace view and complimentary daily breakfast for two during your stay, all this for $264/night with tax. At the recently renovated 4-star Hilton Prince Kuhio in Waikiki you get every 4 th night free plus a $75 dining credit per room. In Puerto Vallarta, we have special fall rates at the 4-star Casa Magna Marriott Resort & Spa. Five nights in a Garden View room is just $798 with tax and Ocean View is only $981. Book 3 nights or more at a Castle Resorts property in Hawaii now through September 7 and travel through December 15, 2008 and receive a free $100 American Express gift card with your vacation.

Added tips for getting your best vacation value
   PLAN EARLY. The days of waiting for a last minute fire sale are over. BE FLEXIBLE. Changing dates by a day or two can often save you a bundle. AVOID HOLIDAY TRAVEL IF YOU CAN. Holiday travel usually means higher airfares and blackout dates for hotel specials. If you need to travel during holiday periods, plan early. HINT: If you’re planning travel during the Christmas season, a February school winter break or spring break 2009, you’re already late. Some prime space is already sold out. Call us as soon as possible to many your winter travel plans. MILEAGE PLAN TRAVEL. A great way to expand your travel budget, but if you wait too long you reduce the value of your earned miles. Lock in your mileage plan airfare as early as possible to get the best value out of your mileage plan. Then call us to make land vacation to correspond with your air. CALL JOURNEYS TO PARADISE. You literally have so many choices today that planning even a seemingly simple vacation can often be overwhelming. Our job is to help you through the maze. We strongly recommend that you call us to validate your findings and in most cases find you a better value. Just tell us what you’ve found and we will tell you if we can offer a better value and why. If not, we’ll tell you that too.

Choose to cruise?
Some love it. Some have yet to experience it, but will. And some are just die-in-the-wool land lovers. If you fall into one of the first two categories, here’s good news. A cruise may offer a great value for you right now. This is particularly true if you live in or near a home port city like Seattle, Boston, New York, Long Beach, CA and several Florida cities. You can save on airfares and overnight hotel stays. Just get to the pier and set sail. Sure there are fuel surcharges on cruise sailings, but overall cruises offer great value. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, isn’t it time to consider that Alaska cruise you’ve always dreamed about? Better yet, a cruise/tour combining your Alaska cruise with an excellent train/motor coach tour through the Canadian Rockies will save you a bundle over doing each separately. Both are wonderful options for couples, families with children, a group of friends, reunions, and corporate meetings or incentives. Thinking Europe but shell-shocked by the value of the dollar? A cruise is your answer and will save you a bundle. We have some great suggestions for Europe and the Mediterranean as well as Russia. Ask us for more detailed information on the European cruise or cruise/tour that’s just right for you. More adventurous and want a spectacular expedition cruise? Ask us about a small expedition cruise ship to the Galapagos Islands on Celebrity Cruises or a luxury yacht cruise this winter in Hawaii or the Sea of Cortez in Mexico with American Safari Cruises. They’re experiences that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Never been on a cruise and want to experience a short cruise to see how you like it? We have 3 night cruises from Seattle to Victoria and Nanaimo, BC for under $400 on the Celebrity Mercury. These cruises also make for a wonderful long weekend for individuals, groups, employee incentives and even wedding parties. See even more details below under Fun Raisin’ Ideas below.

A quick word about mega-travel websites
Almost every day I get the question, “How can you compete against the big “in-your-face” mega travel sites that pop-up on the Internet every time I go online?” My short answer is “Very well, thank you for asking.” Our comparatively small business can’t begin to match their advertising expenditures so we compete against them in other ways. We offer personal hands-on service, customizing travel to meet your specific needs. We care about your vacation because you’re much more than just a business transaction to us. Surprisingly to many of you, we often beat the megas on price and we almost always can beat them on value. Even though we are slowly and meticulously developing a website (www.journeystoparadise.com) to meet your needs, we would prefer to talk to you in person or by phone to assure that we create the travel experience you want and deserve. You represent the lion’s share of our marketing budget. We intend to continue to grow steadily through repeat and referral business. For that to happen we must serve you better than the mega travel sites that would like you to believe that they represent the future of travel industry. Personally, I’ve yet to meet anyone at any of the mega websites who has more than 38 years experience assisting real people with their travel needs. We believe that people like to work with people when their precious vacation time is concerned or they have an important corporate of family event to plan. We will work hard to be your preferred travel provider. For those of you who have given us the opportunity to serve you, we thank you for your patronage.

Fun raisin’ ideas for worthwhile causes
At Journeys To Paradise, we attempt to give back to our community and the world community while still operating a profitable business. To do this, we have chosen to work with recognized charitable and fundraising organizations to support projects that we feel have a positive effect on others. We do so by combining worthwhile fundraising with enticing travel opportunities. Our most recent project is a long-weekend cruise between Seattle and Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. It’s a wonderful and fun-filled cruise for couples, groups of friends and family gatherings, and it’s also highly recommended for firsttime cruisers who want to experience cruising before making a decision regarding a longer cruise. This particular cruise sails October 2-5, 2009, but there is a great incentive to commit Celebrity Mercury now. Prices start as low as $385 per person including all taxes, port charges and fuel surcharges if you book by September 24, 2008. For every cabin purchased, Journeys to Paradise and Celebrity Cruises will donate $100 to Rotary for worthwhile projects such as scholarships, Rotary First Harvest (supporting Pacific Northwest food banks), and Polio Plus (worldwide polio eradication project), dictionaries for low income elementary school students. to name a few. For more information and to book this special Cruise for a Cause, go to our website www.journeystoparadise.com, and click on Special Departures, or call or email us. We would love to have you join us and we would love to have you talk to us about any fundraising projects where we might work together. This is a special niche of Journeys To Paradise that we take very seriously.
