London 2012 Chief Executive visits region
Paul Deighton, Chief Executive of LOCOG has visited the region. Paul visited East Midlands Airport to unveil a series of 2012 inspired images, Loughborough College to see the Loughborough Flames project, New Walk Museum in Leicester to participate in the Love Sport Exhibition, and Corgi to meet the team working on London 2012 model vehicles. 2012 inspired images unveiled
As part of his visit Paul Deighton unveiled a series of seven unique 2012 inspired images that are being exhibited at East Midlands Airport. The images capture current and aspiring Olympians and Paralympians, taking part in their chosen sport at leading tourism attractions around the region. The images can be viewed on our website. Region’s companies already winning gold from 2012
Thirty-four companies or organisations from the East Midlands have already won contracts from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), and many more have won work supplying the ODA's contractors through the supply chain. More info

Nottingham wins bid to stage 2012 World Exhibition
Nottingham is to host the first global exhibition of young artists immediately after the London 2012 Games. The 2012 World Exhibition - Event for Young Artists - will showcase young artistic talent from across the globe, bringing 2,500 artists plus thousands more visitors into Nottingham. More info

Leicestershire recruiting 2012 Games Legacy posts
Can you bring the 2012 Games to life in Leicestershire and Leicester? If so a 2012 Games Legacy Director and Legacy Co-ordinator are currently being recruited. Closing date is Friday 9th October 2009. More info

Hockey seeks volunteers to deliver world class event
England Hockey is looking for more than 250 volunteers to join its Champion Crew to help make the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy, Women, Nottingham 2010 a roaring success. Closing date for applications is 31 October 2009. This world class event is being supported by emda. More info

Loughborough tunes up for 2012
The East Midlands has embraced the Bandstand Marathon with Derbyshire boasting the most participating bandstands in any single county in the UK. A celebration of the Japanese Olympic team selecting Loughborough as their base for the 2012 games came in the form of Taiko West who gave a two hour performance in Queen's Park. More info

adiZone rollout fund open for round 2
Due to the overwhelming level of interest in Round 1 of the adiZone rollout fund, the Department for Children Schools and Families and adidas have reopened the fund for further applications. adiZones are innovative multisports facilities designed in the shape of the London 2012 logo. Emma appointed as Regional 2012 Inspire Programmer
Emma Burke has been appointed as Regional 2012 Inspire Programmer. The Programmer is responsible for sourcing and shaping projects that will help deliver a regional legacy and be awarded the Inspire mark. Emma joins the Regional 2012 Games Team from the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, where she held the role of PR & Events Officer. More info

Northamptonshire launches The Run
‘The Run 09’ is being held on 4 October, taking in the landmark sights of Northampton town centre. The Run is offering 5km and 10 km events, including a corporate team challenge, and a series of children’s races. More info
