					Citrix Gadget
This document assumes that the administrator has already set up or has access to a Citrix WinFrame or MetaFrame server. For more information on Citrix products, go to http://www.citrix.com.

Introduction
The Citrix Gadget allows the user to have access to a Citrix WinFrame or MetaFrame server thru an embedded applet. The applet resides on the web server, and is downloaded to the client every time a user accesses the page. The administrator will be able to configure the gadget to set up any of the extensive parameter options of the Citrix applet. Some of these parameter options include:  Citrix client credentials using one of the following: o Credentials used to log into the portal o Credentials stored in the directory for this gadget o Credentials stored on the local workstation’s secret store o Credentials obtained by prompting the user Log into a Published Application set up on the Citrix server Applet Height and Width Resolution of colors sent to the client Whether to send audio to the client Whether to automatically start the Citrix Client Optional Printer redirection to the client Optional Citrix Hotkey overrides Optional Performance overrides

Preliminary Setup
Before the gadget can be configured, the Citrix Java Applet must be downloaded from the Citrix web site. This can be found at http://download.citrix.com. On this page, locate the ALE Web Clients, and select the latest Java Applet. At the time this document was written, the Citrix Java Applet Version was 6.00. Install the Citrix Java Applet files into a directory on the web server that will be accessible by the portal web server.

Gadget Configuration
There are several configuration pages of settings for this gadget. Each setting will either be marked as Mandatory or Optional to help clarify what absolutely must be set for this gadget to successfully attach to the Citrix server.

Main Gadget Assignment Configuration Page

The main Gadget Assignment Configuration page contains most of the mandatory settings that the administrator must set for this gadget to run correctly. The following settings are available on the Gadget Assignment Configuration page:  CITRIXWIZARD o Mandatory - The citrix wizard is a configuration wizard button that will allow the administrator to set the extensive parameters available for the Citrix Applet. Most of these parameters are optional, but a few are mandatory for the applet to connect to the Citrix server. WIDTH o Mandatory - The width in pixels of the Citrix Applet on the portal web page (i.e. 640). HEIGHT o Mandatory - The height in pixels of the Citrix Applet on the portal web page (i.e. 480). CITRIXCODEBASE o Mandatory - The url to the directory that contains the Citrix Java Applet archives. This is the most troublesome setting because it must be a path

relative to the HTML document location of the web server that the portal is running on. This location will be dependant on the type of web server that the portal is running on. One example of a relative url path would be /CitrixApplet, which would translate to the CitrixApplet directory created by the administrator off of the web server’s HTML document base location. An example of a full url would be http://127.0.0.1:8080/CitrixApplet. LOGINMETHOD o Four options are available for gathering credentials(username/password) to be used to log into the Citrix server: 1) Secret Store – Retrieve the credentials from the client workstation’s local secret store. The first time the user logs in from a given workstation, they will be prompted for the username and password to be used to log in to the Citrix server. After that, the credentials will be automatically retrieved from the local secret store without user intervention. 2) Portal – Use the username and password that the user entered to log into the portal. 3) Configured – Use the username and password configured in NDS for this gadget. If this option is chosen, the CITRIXWIZARD can be used to specify the username and password to be stored into NDS. 4) None – The user will be prompted each time the page with the Citrix gadget is entered for their credentials. CITRIXPARAMS o This setting contains all of the applet parameters in the following form:
o <parmname>=<parmvalue>~<parmname>=<parmvalue>~…

o While the administrator can enter the parameters in manually, it is recommended the Citrix wizard be used to set up the parameters instead.

Citrix Wizard: Initial Page

The initial page will always be the first wizard page displayed when the user selects the CITRIXWIZARD button on the Main Gadget Assignment Configuration Page. Several of the settings at the bottom of this page will help the wizard determine how many more wizard pages need to follow.  Desired Color o Optional - The color depth of the ICA session. The options are 256, thousands or Millions. The higher the resolution, the more information is sent to the client during a session. Clients across slower links should use the default of 256. Start o Optional - Set to ON to force the Citrix applet to automatically connect. The default is set to OFF which will force the user to select a button to connect to the Citrix server. ClientAudio o Optional - Set to ON to Enable applications running on the citrix server to play sounds through a sound device installed on the client computer. PUBLISHED_APP o Mandatory - Set to ON to connect to a published application. The next wizard page will allow the administrator to configure the published application. Set to OFF to connect to a desktop on the Citrix server. In this case, the next wizard page will allow the administrator to configure which Citrix server to connect to.

CONFIG_PRINTERMAPPING o Optional - Set to ON to allow the administrator to configure the client to make client printers available to applications running on this session. If set to ON, a later wizard page will allow the administrator to configure the printer redirection. CONFIG_KEYBOARDMAPPING o Optional - Set to ON to allow the administrator to configure alternate Citrix client hot key values. If set to ON, a later wizard page will allow the administrator to configure the hot key values. CONFIG_PERFORMANCE o Optional - Set to ON to allow the administrator to configure specific Citrix performance values. Several of these values are useful to client workstations running across low bandwidth links. If set to ON, a later wizard page will allow the administrator to configure the performance settings.

Citrix Server Configuration Page

This wizard page will be displayed if the PUBLISHED_APP setting is set to Off on the Citrix Wizard: Initial Page.  Address o Mandatory - The name of the Citrix server to connect to.

Citrix Wizard: Published Application Configuration Page

This wizard page will be displayed if the PUBLISHED_APP setting is set to On while on the Citrix Wizard: Initial Page.    TCPBrowserAddress o Mandatory - The name of the Citrix server to connect to. InitialProgram o Mandatory - The name of the published application to connect to. WorkDirectory o Optional - The path of the working directory where the initial program is run after the user connects to the Citrix server.

Citrix Wizard: Number Of Printers
This wizard page will be displayed if the CONFIG_PRINTERMAPPING setting is set to On while on the Citrix Wizard: Initial Page.



Citrix Wizard: Printer Configuration

This wizard page will be displayed if the CONFIG_PRINTERMAPPING setting is set to On while on the Citrix Wizard: Initial Page, immediately after the Citrix Wizard: Number Of Printers page. One of the following pairs of settings will be available for each printer specified in the previous Citrix Wizard: Number Of Printers page.  user.PrinterX.port o Optional - The local printer port for printerX where X is 1-4. This can be a filename, a local printer port (i.e. LPT1), a network printer attached to a local printer port (i.e LPT2) or a network queue (i.e. Ipaddr:PrintQueueName). user.PrinterX.driver o Optional - Specify the printer driver for printerX where X is 1-4. This must exactly match the driver name on the Citrix server (i.e. HP Laser Jet 4/4M Plus PS).



Citrix Wizard: Keyboard Configuration
