  5. Program Description:
     A planned post-residency program that contains education and training in a focused
     area of the specialty of craniofacial surgery. The focused areas include but not limited
     to: Pediatric Cranial and Facial Surgery; Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery;
     Maxillofacial Trauma; Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology; and Cosmetic Oral and
     Maxillofacial Surgery, etc.
     This program is designed to be at the standard conformed to the protocol of the
     International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS).

     8.1 understand the treatment process for patients with craniofacial deformities
         a. Diagnosis
         b. Preoperative evaluation
         c. Detection and treatment of complications
         d. Postoperative care and follow-up
     8.2 academically communicate with involving personnel, e.g. residents, medical
     students, nurses

     8.3 appraise and criticize medical information related to craniofacial surgery
     appropriately
     8.4 finish at least one research study in any topic related to craniofacial surgery for
     publishing in a medical journal listed in ISI database
     8.5 gain more skill up to the level of self-confidence to do common craniofacial
     procedures on his/her own

  9. Program Contents:

     9.1 Basic sciences
            9.1.1 Pre-and post-natal development of the craniofacial structures
            9.1.2 Anatomy, anatomic aberrations and biomechanics of the craniofacial
                    structures
            9.1.3 Physiology of craniofacial organs
     9.2 Congenital craniofacial anomalies
     9.3 Maxillofacial injuries
     9.4 Craniofacial oncology
     9.5 Cosmetic craniofacial surgery

  10. Clinical / Academic Activities:

     10.1    Academic activities
             10.1.1 Topic review – 2 times/month
             10.1.2 Journal club – 1 time/ month
             10.1.3 Ward round/Grand round – 3 times/week
             10.1.4 Inter-hospital/Inter-departmental conference – 1 time/month
     10.2    Clinical work
             10.2.1 Inside the Chulalongkorn hospital – at least 10 months
                    10.2.1.1        Outpatient
                    10.2.1.2        Inpatient
                    10.2.1.3        In the operating rooms
             10.2.2 Outside the Chulalongkorn hospital – not more than 2 months
     10.3    Research work
             10.3.1 Conduction of a research study
             10.3.2 Presentation of the finished research work in an international medical
                    conference

     All application requirements must be translated and submitted in English by a certified
     translator
     15.1 Evidence of graduation from a nationally or regionally accredited Medical School to
         practice medicine in home nation

      15.2 Evidence of certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
      15.3 A copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae
      15.4 Documentation of an active medical practice affiliation with a national or regional
          medical facility in home nation
      15.5 Evidence of financial support from the affiliated medical facility for the study visit
      15.6 Evidence of financial support for travel and personal expenses during the training
          period.
      15.7 A valid passport from the home country and eligibility to obtain a visa to travel to
          Thailand if selected
      15.8 Documentation of good medical/surgical practice

      *Applicants can send application and supporting document (PDF files) via email to
      info@thaicraniofacial.com for consideration. However, to be admitted into International
      Training Programs, the applicants must submit original supporting documents to Graduate
      Division, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

  17. Period of Application: not later than 15th August of the program year

  18. International Student Regulation:
      Before enrollment, all international trainees are required to show adequate proof of
      health insurance coverage.
