									Artisan’s Lien
This Artisan’s Lien can be used when a party has provided services or materials on a
client’s personal property but has not received full payment. Providing the client or
property owner of notice of intent to file an artisan’s lien can be essential in the lien-filing
process. Customize the information of the parties, the services or materials provided,
the amount owed, and more. This lien is ideal for individuals or small businesses that
have provided services or materials on a client’s personal property but have not
received full payment.
NOTICE AND CLAIM OF ARTISAN’S LIEN

Upon the recording of the enclosed artisan’s lien with the county recorder’s office of the County
of _____________________, [Instructions: Insert the county] State of
____________________, [Instructions: Insert the state] your personal property is subject to the
filing of a legal action seeking a court-ordered foreclosure sale of the personal property on which
the lien has been recorded. That legal action must be filed with the court no later than ninety (90)
days after the date the artisan’s lien is recorded.

The party identified in the enclosed artisan’s lien may have provided labor or materials for
improvements to your personal property and may not have been paid for these items. You are
receiving this notice because it is a required step in filing an artisan’s lien foreclosure action
against your personal property. The foreclosure action will seek a sale of your property in order
to pay for unpaid labor, materials, or improvements provided to your personal property. This
may affect your ability to borrow against, refinance, or sell the personal property until the
artisan’s lien is released. Because the artisan’s lien affects your personal property, you may wish
to speak with your contractor immediately, or contact an attorney.
